So I’ve been considering getting a chin implant for a few years now. I got my nose done in 2012 and my surgeon recommended it then, but I didn’t feel ready for it. It’s been on the back of my mind for a while, and in the last year I’ve become more self-conscious about my profile. I also feel that my face looks a bit round. I lost some weight and feel more ready to get it done now. I’m just a bit hesistant, I felt comfortable with my surgeon, but didn’t go too much into detail regarding the shape/size of the implant I will be receiving so I need to consult about that further. Also, I’m nervous because I feel my face is a bit round, that it’ll make it more round And lose some femininity? I wouldn’t want it to make me look older! And now I decided I’m finally going through with it, the last couple days I felt like my chin looked fine and maybe this is the wrong choice! Has anyone experienced that before their surgery? Any comments, advice, and feedbac would be appreciated :)

I'm really excited to see your results. I think your chin looks nice (not a classic recessed chin that calls out for a chin implant) but I have been noticing more and more that a lot of beautiful celebrities have had chin implants. It's not that they looked bad before (like Angelina Jolie, for example) but it just gives them a subtle improvement, a more refined jawline and a generally prettier than before. I don't think most people will be able to put their finger on what looks different about you. Your face will just look like it's in more ideal balance and proportion. Please post your after pics when you feel up to it. Thanks for sharing your journey. Good luck!! I want to do this too but haven't gotten up the nerve yet. You could be my motivation!

Thank you so much! The last few days looking at myself I’m doubting if I should even go through it. I felt that way about my nose and don’t regret it all and glad I did it, but idk chin is different

Are you just getting the silastic (silicone) type inserted through an incision under the chin? If so, my doctor said it is super easy to remove it in his office in 15 minute procedure if I decide that don't like it (after allowing enough time for full healing, of course). He doesn't charge for the removal, but of course I wouldn't get my original money back. Ask your doc. It might make you feel more at ease.

Yes I am getting a silicone implant inserted, and yeah that would be upsetting to not get the original amount back, because it’s obviously a lot of money, but I guess at least I would know for sure lol but thanks for the suggestion

Please be careful about this decision. It's going to be an object in your face some people can deal with that and some people can't. Some people that get it removed heal perfectly fine and some experience deformity such as skin sagging and chin dimples. Consider the risks as well if you have doubts. I am still healing after removing an implant. Personally I find it difficult to not focus on other people's chins now. I have had major anxiety and considered counselling. I also went through the phase of wanting an even bigger implant because I felt the change was too subtle and not worth the dull aches I was experiencing after waking up and sleeping on my side. This is of course my personal experience and everyone is different. Some people keep getting revisions because they don't like the results and some people don't like the asymmetry the chin implant enhances since our faces are already naturally symmetrical. If you decide to do this after reading other people's experiences good AND bad then by all means go for it. Just be aware nothing is guaranteed.

Also I had my implant for almost 2 years before I started not liking it.

Thanks so much for this! I actually decided I’m not going to do it, unfortunately I will lose out on my deposit, but I feel like if that’s what it took for me to feel more comfortable me in my skin and possibly avoid a mistake then it’s worth it, I feel like I’m actually starting to appreciate how it looks more now, if that makes sense. Of course I go back and forth, and I also do focus on other people’s chins as well, but hopefully that can fade in time , and I think I light juts do some fillers to give a more pronounced jawline and maybe Chin Lipo down the road since my sisters and Mom have stubborn fat under their chin they can’t get rid of and I I can tell that’s happening for me a little bit already. Thanks for your feedback! I can see myself obsessing over it after an implant as well

You really don't "need" an implant since you don't have a recessed chin. It sounds like you were just looking for subtle profile improvement which you can certainly get with fillers. I think you are making a wise decision to go with a more conservative solution.

Thanks so much for your comment! I really appreciate it. Would you be able to give me some basic info in fillers? Would they be basically to enhance the jawline?

Can you find out the shape of implant he’s using? The size would appear to be “small” but I’m curious about “shape” since your chin isn’t super recessed, but still enough to warrant an implant.

Yeah I’m going to go through the shapes and sizes during my next appointment but I’m really starting to get nervous and have doubts that maybe I don’t need this :/

you have beautiful chin, a very balanced face. you do not need a chin implant at all. i repeat you do not need a chin implant and i advice you to not do it. seriously your chin and face is very balanced i think you will not like how your chin will look if you get a chin implant please dont get me wrong. hope the best for you

I had chin implant and for me you don't need one or if you wanted to, you would want a small chin implant because if you placed big it would be not in proportion. You might have difficulty to understand but by contrast when you had it for long time ago you would understand it. You wouldn't like a witch's chin it would make you older, smaller face looks younger and balanced face is prefect.

Yeah I’m starting to think the same thing based on people’s feedback and I’m going to cancel the procedure thank you for your feedback

Instead of listening to complete strangers on here, why don’t you go for another consult with a different surgeon for a second opinion?
May 16, 2018
Yeah I made an appointment for a consultation for Monday! I guess I’m confused because I also did a couple online consultations and heard some mixed reviews ugh
May 20, 2018
Just consult to a professional with more experience that can show pictures before and after.
May 21, 2018
Thanks for the feedback! I think I’m actually starting to feel more confident with my chin, like I’m starting to appreciate it more and might not want to change it., if that makes sense
May 16, 2018
Please keep us posted on how everything goes? I have a consult tomorrow morning. My chin is very similar to yours. Also, are you doing local anesthesia with or without twilight/iv sedation. Or general?
May 16, 2018
Thanks! I’m doing local anesthesia, good luck on your consult! I’m looking more into fillers as of right now as the permanent option scares me and could be good as a “trial” to an implant lol but we’ll see!
May 16, 2018
Also let me know what they tell you, I am very curious as I’ve been hearing mixed things about what I need to get done :)
