I have not had my surgery yet! But it's in two weeks! I'm having an abdominoplasty and medial thigh lift. I had an abdominoplasty in 2008 and with awful results. Just went in to see my doctor, Dr. Capella, to sign my forms, etc. Omg really nervous but Dr. Capella is SO nice and has such high recommendations! Feeling very confident as well as nervous! I

Oh I was a train wreck before my plastic surgery with him. Seriously, I was NOT myself at all. Hang in there!!! It really will be OK. I actually became a much better person for it (long story). Try deep breathing for relaxation and meditation. Good luck! You re in good hands.

Done but God am I in pain! I wrote about my experience below. I did stay in Hackensack Hospital but NOT a great experience AT ALL. Ugh!!! Spent HOURS with NO pain meds and crying my eyes out. Noisy roommate. Was terrible. Not feeling great at this particular moment but hopes are high. I just want to not hurt anymore :).

oh, you poor lady, that sounds like quite an ordeal. When I had my TT there were times that the care center (not the hospital) took too long to bring my pain meds and wow, did it ever allow for the pain to build and build. I recall the Percocet would last 3 hours but they could not give me another dose until 4 hours. Then they would be an hour late sometimes, so those last two hours were bad. There is a newer drug that has a longer and more even duration of control than Percocet but I cannot recall its name. I always thought if I got surgery again that I would request that. I also had a roommate who watched TV 24/7 and I could not sleep at night with the darn noise and light of the TV. Thankfully I was only there one night. If you are still in the hospital you can get a morphine drip. I think people call these a pain ball. Try to be careful that you don't get constipated from the pain meds because trying to force elimination when your muscles have been plicated hurts like a son of a gun. I was feeling a world better after three days. Get well soon!!!

Feel better already. But my legs feel so swollen, I'm laying with them up right now. Lucky that I have my mom, my son, and his girlfriend all here so getting lots of good care. But my legs feel so heavy. Did you experience that in the first week?

I am glad that you are feeling better! I did not experience a lot of swelling in my thighs nor the heaviness that you describe. It was my body that swelled a lot. I drank lots of water and took many recovery supplements. And I was sure to walk often. Perhaps it helped reduce swelling or perhaps the body is just going to recover in its own way and in its own time... I really wonder about that. I am glad that you have helpers!

Ugh what an ordeal. Had an awful experience in the hospital. Basically spent time on NO pain meds omg, felt like I was in that scene in Gone with the Wind where the soldiers were out crying because all the medicine had run out. Finally got some but woefully inadequate. Had full tummy tuck with muscle tightening and medial thigh lift. After hours of no pain meds they gave me 10 mg of Valium and 5 mg of Roxicodone. This is because the doc had prescribed Percocet but wasn't working well enough so they gave me a Tylenol drip then I like od'ed on Tylenol so they had to get hold of the doc to get him to prescribe something without acetominophin. I was crying my eyes out and could barely move, felt like calling 911 from Hackensack Hospital. BRUTAL. I've NEVER had any sort of problem with drugs, alcohol, smoking, I'm 54 for crying out loud, never a problem at all. Ugh. So didn't start out too well. No sleep for the first few nights. Was so distraught my mom came to stay with me so that's good. I felt really like skinny last night but think I'm swelling up. Anyone have any advice? I got 40 Percocet and Dr. Capella said that was it except he gave me a script for Tylenol #3 which i can't take. Praying to God that I spent no more time in pain than necessary. Anyone have any good advice? Scars are horrendous tho I know they will flatten down. Have heard nothing but rave reviews about Dr. Capella so praying that this will turn around. Thanks :)

I'm a 49 yo woman who had a LBL in July of this year. I had a similar situation with the meds and at the hospital. My results are less than expected with very little difference in the before and after pics. VERY DISSAPOINTED
