Just a little over two months to go. I have wanted a tummy tuck as long as i can remember. I was probably still in elementary school when I realized my stomach was bigger than the rest of me. My tummy has influenced every area of my life. It was the reason I didn't wear the clothes I wanted to wear, have the friends I wanted to have, date the boys I wanted to date, go the places I wanted to go. It has kept me self conscious and insecure about myself my whole life. I have tried accepting it. I have tried getting rid of it with diet and exercise . Nothing has worked for me . Since I can't make peace with it and I'm blessed to have the money to get rid of it , thats exactly what I'm going to do. I scared. Scared of the pain and scared of not waking up from the surgery . I am so happy that I found this sight. Reading about everyone's experiences brings me peace and hope. I have gone into this not even having expectations of the outcome. I can't imagine what i will look like! I will post a pic right before surgery.

I am right behind you on surgery dates! I think having fear of the unknown is completely normal. Keep positive thoughts and soon you will be on the flat side :)

CONGRATULATIONS on your decision .... you will find that it is well worth it. I live in the UK, and had my tummy tuck 14 months ago (I will be 58 next month). I had an overhang (apron) since having my two daughters and no amount of dieting or exercising would shift it. I eventually plucked up the courage to visit a plastic surgeon. I paid privately and was in a private hospital for 2 nights. I had no pain at all. I was given painkillers. My drains were removed prior to me leaving hospital. My scars are healing nicely with only small 'dog-ears' at either end, which my surgeon has advised me can be tweaked at the beginning of next year. My surgeon gave me lipo on my flanks plus a muscle repair. Also, my belly button has been re-positioned. I used BIO OIL, which I rubbed into my scars twice a day - not advised to use on open wounds - wait until 6 weeks or more when the scars are healed. My unsightly overhang is now gone - and I am much more confidence. I couldn't imagine what my body would look like after the operation, it is really flat and I can now wear figure hugging dresses lol :-) plus a bikini ... I really wish that I'd had this operation done years ago. ps - I had a breast reduction and uplift (by another surgeon/hospital) 4 years ago, my breasts were asymmetrical. That surgeon was also brilliant and the scars now are really not noticeable (they were glued). All I can say is - "YOU GO FOR IT" xx Good Luck

Hi, look forward to the big day with excitement. The hardest part is done, the decision, so now just trust your professionals. Forget any pain, mine was only ever at a 1, and was only ever giver normal painkillers anyway. As far as not waking up after surgery, that is what your professionals are for, you are monitored so closely in surgery, that you are in more danger of having a heart attack at home. Forget that thought and think positively as this is the secret to healing. Read my review, I am almost 7wks PO and am back to normal and so pleased with the outcome that I can't go past a fitting room mirror when buying new clothes. It will be life changing for you so look forward to it. I also had all the insecurities when growing up and it wasn't fun, but now, I am jumping out of my skin with excitement. You will too. Make sure you ask plenty of questions of your PS to the stage of becoming a pest as it is reassuring to know exactly the outcome you can expect. You are having a lot done at once, and will be sore for a while, but after the first week, things really start to look up. Read all the other 'girls' reviews and learn from them, they are all (including me ) there to help you. Would most of us do it again, - in a heartbeat. Stay stress free and have a positive and confident disposition and you will be great. Go for it with excitement.

less than 2 months to go and I'm a little freaked out.

I wonder if anyone else has been this obsessed about their upcoming surgery. I think about it constantly and even dream about it. Is this a sign that I shouldn't go through with it? I welcome feedback!

getting ready for a new me. Fraxel done yesterday

In preperation for a new me I had Fraxel dual 1927 . I didn't have bad skin to start with but I want to get rid of some small discoloration and fine wrinkling I had begun seeing. I had always heard that it was painful. I have a fairly good pain tolerance I guess since I didn't feel the need to numb up after my test patch. My laser technician said I was the only person she had ever done who declined topical anesthetic . It was uncomfortable but bearable. Last night my face was slightly swollen and sensitive. I took a couple of ibuprofen and was fine. Today it feels like sandpaper and is starting to discolor. Certainly no where near the most pain or discomfort I've ever had. Had my procedure done at Exccelase in Raleigh NC. The owner , Nooshi was very professional and talked me through the whole thing. I had a very good idea by the time we started what to expect and she was very thorough with after care instructions.
