I used a fake name for my doctor. I refuse to review him/her because I feel like he/ she is not to blame for my results. This side effect wasn't known at the time. For whatever reason, this crap was rushed through FDA approval for cosmetic use while other, safer drugs for other conditions get wait-listed indefinitely, although they may have been used safely in Europe for decades. Makes no sense.

I can see the improvement. I am carefully watching my eyes for any signs of fat loss and so far so good. I have only been using latisse for about three months, though.

Be careful. The change is very gradual and hard to notice until it's too late. Not everyone's eyes fully recover either. It's a big chance to take. If I had known this was a possibility before I began using it, I would have stayed far away from this product.

That's so great your kids healed!! Gives me hope- having this problem after approx 6 mo of off and on use- just realized what was going on and super freaked out- can't believe I've done this to myself and crossing finger I'll heal as well as you did...THA K YOU so much for sharing- esp the pics and good follow up!!!

*lids* darn autocorrect

I think you have an excellent chance at a full recovery, especially since you only used it on and off for six months.
January 10, 2016
ps- do you feel that you've had 100% recovery?
January 11, 2016
Not yet 100% but close. Full recovery may take up to 15 months.
January 11, 2016
Thank you- that you are close is reassuring!

I stopped using mine after only two days. I am now using a recipe of castor oil, vitamin e, and coconut oil to grow my lashes. Will see how they do in a month or two. Eyelash recipe can be found on wellness mama website

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. I'd been using Careprost for about 5 years or so. In the beginning I was very careful to use the brush, but over the past year or two got lazy and put a drop in each eye. I did notice the loss of fat but didn't mind since I had small bags under each eye. They also have red/dark circles, but again, I didn't mind that too much since concealer works pretty well. My biggest problem, and I think it only became such a problem since putting the drop directly in my eye is my bright green eyes are now nearly all brown. There was always some brown around the pupil, but very little. Now it's the opposite and the little bit of color around them is dark and grayish. It does seem that yours have lightened since stopping. Is that the photo, or have they actually lightened? If so, after how long?

Some of it is just the photo, but they do seem to have lightened just a little bit. The color change in the iris is likely permanent, although you may get some slight lightening after quitting. I understood that risk before using it, so it isn't a major complaint for me, although I do miss my mostly green eyes.

Some of it is the photo. They lightened a tiny bit, but I think any iris color changes are likely permanent.

5 months after quitting Latisse

Photo taken in bright bathroom lighting, no makeup. Fat is definitely returning. Looks almost back to normal. Although my lashes look nonexistent in this photo due to their light color, they look pretty good with mascara - not as thick and long as with Latisse, but still quite good. The lashes were not worth the trade off of old-looking, sunken eyes.

Adding that my eyes are also looking greener lately. They did seem to darken after using Latisse, but I did not complain about that because I knew it was a risk before I started using it. When I saw my eyes had darkened it didn't bother me enough to stop using it because I loved the lashes so much (this was before I noticed that my eyes were sinking in) I thought the lashes were worth it and I just accepted that the change would be permanent. I didn't think that iris darkening was supposed to reverse at all, but they do look lighter to me.

I use careprost which is a generic version of latisse... I wonder if it could produce that same side effect??
December 2, 2015
Yes, it can. Just like Latisse, it contains the active ingredient bimatoprost, which is what's responsible for the fat loss.

THANK YOU for posting! I have been struggling with my fat loss above my eyes for years and I had no idea it was from the product i was using. It just keeps bothering me and bothering me and I had no idea what to do. I have been using this off and on since it hit the market...ugh...disgusting. I thought I was just aging quicker than most. Thx you thx you! I am discounting immediately. You are an angle.

Seeing improvement

jcatgrl
It's been over two months now since I stopped using Latisse. I'm still seeing improvement. My husband has also noticed and commented that my eyes look better.
My lashes are not as long and full, but having those lashes wasn't worth having old looking eyes.
I will continue to post updates every couple of months.

We appreciate your updates.  So you feel the fat is coming back since you stopped using the latisse?

September 10, 2015
Yes. I'm very relieved that the fat is returning. I was worried that it may have done permanent damage to my eye area. If you look at the updated photo, you can see that it looks less sunken and the upper sulcus isn't as deep.
September 10, 2015

I noticed that in your photo.  Interesting that the fat loss isn't permanent (and good!).  Please continue to keep us posted as to whether you notice more fat returning, or anything else :)

I too noticed that my eyes were sunken with a deep sulcus and loss of fat underneath after using Latisse for about a year and a half. It was gradual so I never really noticed it until I could see the bony part of my under eye area showing so when I looked down, you could actually see this sunken semicircle under my eyes. My lashes looked looked good but my eyes looked like a much older woman. Just on a whim I decided to check this site out and when I read about periorbital fat loss PAP I knew why. I stopped using it about three weeks ago and wow already my sulcus is returning to normal, the bone under my eye is no longer visible, the red eyelids are gone and my eyes look youthful again. It is def reversing. I also researched and found a medical abstract on line and it showed before and after pics of elderly people who used lumigan for their glaucoma before and after stopping it and I could not believe the difference. The fat around their orbital returned after a couple of months. This particular paper stated that the fat would return in most of the cases so I felt relieved when I read this. It also stated that all patients would suffer fat loss. Another article I read stated that younger people have more fat around the eye so they do not notice the fat loss like an older person would but eventually the fat loss would become noticeable over time. I also read another article where dye was added to one of the lash growing products and no matter how carefully it was applied to the edge of the lash line, some seeped into the eye and was visible because of the dye in the eye. Not only that, when I started reading all the posts about people whose eye colour changed I knew it was time to stop. I have blue eyes and it's what I am used to. I would rather use mascara to enhance my lashes and have youthful looking eyes than to have old looking eyes with long lashes. Just not worth it and the bonus is I'm saving money. So anyone who has sunken eyes don't stress because my eyes are def reversing with fat returning.

That is so interesting about the fat loss.  I would have assumed it was permanent, but glad to hear it isn't.  You should write a Latisse review!

Please do keep us posted. This happened to me and my eyes haven't bounced back yet. I'm hoping its reversible. It's disheartening because this wasn't a listed side effect and now I feel scarred because of it. Let's just hope we go back to our original self.
October 24, 2015
I'll stop using it right now!! Thank you for your review, I hope you keep improving, wish you the best!
November 20, 2015
I would usually never say this, but it's obviously that the changes are from Latisse and you should pursue legal action. It looks like it's improving though once you stopped at least.
