I am 58 years old and had my first BA in 1977 with silicone implants. I was 32A and became a 32C. Replaced them in 2001 due to rupture and contracture in right breast. MD advised me to put 400cc gel implants in due to space left by removal of scar tissue. Became 34D. Now implants are both contracted and after much thought have decided to remove them for good! I am happy that I am getting them removed but so afraid of what they will look like! On the other hand I feel natural smaller breast ALWAYS look better than overinflated, hard, deformed ones..lol. I'll post before and after pics as surgery date approaches. Thank you to all the ladies that posted pictures. It was very helpful to get a good idea of what post op will look like.

Hi pboone! Sounds like you have made your decision. I am right there with you but it seems we all go through the same questions and answers before we make that decision to explant. I am going in June 5 for an explant - no lift. I go for my preop on May 20 and do have more questions for my ps. Good luck to you and will be following your journey!

Wow, your story sounds very similar to mine. You have made the right decision. My explant is scheduled for 5/24 and the ladies on this site have been so helpful in sharing their stories, pictures and advice. Good luck to you!

Thank you ladies! Good luck to you too! I'm scheduled for 6/27. I've been obsessing over the before and after pics. I am looking forward to looking down and seeing 2 nipples instead if 2 hard softballs. Also looking forward to new cute bras instead of the grandma ones I wear now.... I will be having lipo for upper, lower and sides of abdomen at the same time. I'll keep posting..hope you will too.. Here are the stats...I find it helpful for me when I'm comparing 58 yo, 5'4 138 36D Rt breast approx 80% contracted-Lt breast contraction underneath approx 20%. Also my PS is not performing removal of scar tissue. He feels it's not necessary if I'm not replacing the implants.

You will be so much more comfortable after those hard balls are off your chest! Good for you!

You will do great! The explant surgery was a piece of cake for me. But not so much the ab lipo. Tomorrow will be two weeks since my surgery and I've only just begun to have less pain from the lipo - it is not for sissies, lol! That being said, it is very manageable and I'm sooooo glad I did it and you will be too! Just take it very easy for a couple of weeks. Good luck! Xoxo

Hi pboone--you will be so happy and relieved once you get those hard implants out.  As you're seeing from the many stories here, it's a choice of putting our health first. I am fortunate that I have a bit more breast tissue now than when I got the implants in 1987.  So, I think I will end up an A cup instead of an AA or AAA which I was prior.  I'm sure you'll find a ton of support from all the amazing women on this site!
