I've wanted a rhinoplasty for quite some time...

I've wanted a rhinoplasty for quite some time (over a decade), and began shopping for plastic surgeons in North Carolina. After consultations with 6 surgeons across the state, Dr. Stein was by far the most impressive and confident about what he could accomplish.

I am extremely pleased with my results, and could not be happier. My hump was removed, and the tip and bridge re-shaping look natural and symmetrical. Essentially, it is nearly exactly how I pictured my results when I first thought of nose surgery.

Overall, I did not have any complications, nor did I encounter anything that I did not anticipate. Dr. Stein and staff were, and continue to be, extremely helpful and supportive. I am not in the market for any additional work, but if I were, I would definitely trust my body to Dr. Stein, again. He is one of the best in the Southeast, and is well deserving of this merit. I will not be uploading photos, but for reference - I wanted to remove the hump on nose, narrow my bridge, and slightly turn up my tip. Those these were my major goals, I did NOT want to look like I had significant work done. I chose Dr. Stein because he previous worked always seemed to turn out very natural looking. Day 1 - operation
After months of anticipation, I finally underwent my procedure in late fall 2012. The operation went seamlessly, and lasted approximately 1.5 hours. I didn't remember a thing! The immediate post-up involved "recovering" from the anesthesia, but that took no more than 30 minutes. I was swollen in my eyes and cheeks but pain was minimal. I did not have much of an appetite, but was encourage to drink a lot - straws def come in handy. Sprite and Water helped to weather any nausea I experienced due to the medication. Sleeping took an adjustment, but with comfy pillows, it wont be so bad. Every now and again, I would breathe thru my nose and was happy that I was not stuffy - this is not recommended though, as your nose is still stabilizing. I also began icing on the first, this is my biggest tip; I iced 20 minutes on each eye with 10-15 minute breaks between each set. This really helped to speed up the swelling and bruising process. Day 2-5
My swelling definitely got worse on the second day, but pain was very marginal. In fact, I was able minimize use of Rx pain meds during the entire 1st week (apprx 2 pills a day). The only con was my nose began to get stuffy with the build up of mucous and residual blood. I did not leak much after day 2, so I did away with the mustache gauge I used on day 1. My appetite returned, but it was pretty difficult to eat solid foods. During the first week, I generally stuck to scrambled eggs for breakfast, beans for lunch, and water-based soup for dinner. I continued that diet for the next 4 days. My swelling continued to increase thru day 3, but after that it gradually improved. By day 4, swelling was decreasing, pain was virtually non-existent, and I was able to introduce other juices and snacks to my diet (orange and cranberry juice, grapes, and oatmeal). Day 6-8
I could see the light at the end of the tunnel! Swelling is virtually gone, but residual bruising still under my eyes. By day 8, splint removal day, any residual bruising was easily covered with concealer. Once the splint was removed I was incredibly happy with the results. Beforehand, I was really nervous about how turned up my tip would be, and if my bridge would be crooked, as I had read horror stories about crooked jobs. But none of these horror occurred! Everything was how I had always wanted it. My tips was pretty swollen, however, which was expected, but I could clearly see what my nose would look like once this swelling were to retreat. Week 2- Year healing process So now I am in the process of healing body and mind, as Dr. Stein's staff put it. My tip is gradually becoming less swollen, and I still love my results. Tips
Make sure you have ample time to heal! Allot for a good 1.5 weeks to be out of commission to fully let your body heal. By day 7 I was able to leave my apt and run small errands, and by day 11 I was fully functioning and socializing! Stock up on face cleaning products while your splint is in place. Since the splint cannot get wet, I purchased Biore daily face wash wipes. Twice a day, I would clean my face with these and water/peroxide wipes. Once the splint was off, I incorporated my regular exfoliating face scrub with the other two steps. This helped a lot with the dryness and stickiness that occurs.
