The, drains.the drains!

The drains should be out tomorrow. My surgery was the 15. My breast look a lot smaller and perky. I think my bb is going to be cute too. I am still very swollen. But happy so far. My surgery took 7 hours.

The Pay Out

I had my preop appointment today. I had to do the dreaded before pics. I joked with the nurse about usually getting dinner and a movie first. I also filled out some paperwork. It was a pretty basic appointment. The worst part was writing that ginormous check. I'm sure my hand shook. I could do a lot of good with that money and I am! On me. But, that hasn't been typical behavior for me and I do feel a bit guilty. I also found out that I get to use a catheter for a day. My husband is going to remove it. Ha! This makes me very nervous. My husband is not much of a nursemaid. He's not uncaring just a bit thoughtless. Does that make sense? Also, my bladder loves to be cathd'd. I didn't think I'd ever go on my own after the last time. This will all be worth it in the end. My Mantra.

I consulted with 3 plastic surgeons in my area...

I consulted with 3 plastic surgeons in my area before choosing one. The first one required you to meet his nurse for a consultation (free) before a second paid consultation. It was a long drive to Raleigh and I was so discouraged after she gave me a guesstimate. I had an idea of about 15,000. I was quoted between 20-25,000. I left there and GPS'd my way to another plastic surgeon's office that was my #2. I didn't have an appointment but was given a price range that was more reasonable. So, I made a $120 consultation appointment. The office was very nice and I liked the doctor, He was thorough and answered all my questions. He even took some pictures and drew on me with a wax pencil. The only naked pictures of me in the world except maybe baby pics! I had already made an appointment with the 3rd plastic surgeon. The #3 had a very friendly office as well. He's younger than the other two. He didn't have as many reviews as the other 2 but, what he had were excellent. A few doctors have had him do their tummy tucks. Another RS- (Life is Crazy Good) praised his work. She looks phenomenal! He too did some drawing on me- no nudie pics! His price is just a smidgen cheaper and I could use a credit card with 0% for a year. I've wanted a breast reduction since I was 10 and first got them and a tummy tuck since my first baby 24 years ago. I have lost and gained the same 20 lbs for the last 20 years. I am 5'4' and 135lbs. My body is very curvy. I wear a 32f sometimes an ff! It has not been as much fun as one might think. My body has always embarrassed me. Men gawk and women can be such haters. It's hard to find clothes that fit right and I feel worse naked. These home grown 42 year old big boobs are not perky and this belly has carried 3 children. I go the gym between 6-8 hrs weekly. My body is as fit and healthy as I can get it. I need some help making it the rest of the way. I have had migraines and back pain for the last 10 years. My insurance isn't paying for anything and my husband and I keep separate accounts. It's an odd mix of excitement, guilt and fear.My family and coworkers don't know. I don't want them to judge me. I am not wealthy. I'm taking 10 days off from work. There are certainly other things I could be spending my money on. My husband doesn't have any opinion-least not that he's sharing! He's going to be my ride into Raleigh but past experience tells me he's not a nursemaid. I've ordered the Vitamedica supplements, the anrica gel, compression garments. I have been devouring this site. I don't know if I'll ever be brave enough to show pictures but I definitely can share my experience!

Provider Review

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
3633 Harden Rd., Raleigh, North Carolina

Everyone that I have dealt with so far has been very nice. Dr. Blanton spent over an hour discussing my procedures and answering my questions. He thinks that a lift and tummy tuck will give me good results. I feel confident that he'll do an excellent work. Peggy Odell, the patient coordinator couldn't have been any friendlier. We chatted like old friends.
