My dermatologist recommended that I have a series...
My dermatologist recommended that I have a series of DermaSweep treatments for acne scarring (not discoloration, but true scarring, mostly rolling). I was hesitant especially considering the lack of information out there but I agreed. The procedure is conducted in 2 stages, first with a brush (which looks like an electronic toothbrush) that has a vacuum in the center to collect dead skin as the brush exfoliates and then they apply topicals that are selected based upon your skin condition. My provider chose salicylic acid and glycolic acid from what I recall. The procedure lasted about 20 minutes. The difference between this and a facial is that the vacuum assist sucks up your dead skin cells. You are basically paying double for a machine that sucks up your dead skin. My skin felt nice afterwards, but it was NO WHERE CLOSE to being worth $250 to use a gimmicky device to exfoliate your skin and apply topicals. There was no value in this procedure. In my estimation, it was worth $50 tops, add a massage and maybe $100 in 2016 dollars.

The dermatologist and NP were wonderful - my disappointment is with the procedure itself, although I do question why this practice is offering something like DermaSweep, as it offers very little "bang for the buck".
