Nha Khoa Nhan Tam. Vietnam

ORIGINAL POST

I just had the implant and bridge done at Nha Khoa...

WORTH IT$2,650
I just had the implant and bridge done at Nha Khoa Nhan Tam. I am 90% satisfied with the work done at the above clinic. There are rooms for improvement though.
1) First Dr. Nhan is extremely professional. He sat with me and discussed the options and his recommendations after careful reviewed of my particular problem. His assistant then plans all the details and takes into consideration of the timing that I have. Please note that he only performs the implant. Other staff members are taking care of lesser serious issues such as crowns, root canals. The surgery room is modern and achieves the excellent standards.
2) I would suggest that his staff members should introduce themselves and summarize the work to be performed. It would give patients more confidence that he posted the diplomas of all his staffs who will be performing dental procedures. They should be clearly carry tags to identify their roles. I did not know who is dentist and who is assistant. Besides, other assistants should concentrate to the work at hand and should not talk to each other about personal matters while performing their tasks.
3) All tools and equipment should only be opened with the patients present. This will give patients more confidence in their sterilization tools and equipment. When I got to the chair, all tools are there already and I am not so sure where they come from and how clean they are.
4) There is a cleanliness of the office is good (8/10). I saw some stains on some of the cabinets. Cleaning of these areas should be done immediately by either the cleaning person or the assistant right after the work is done. The minor thing that I do not like is that they ask patients to remove shoes and use the provided sandals. This may be OK with the Vietnamese but for overseas travelers, it is a little bothersome. The cleaner needs to constantly clean the facility throughout the day rather than asking customers to remove their shoes.
5) They understand our needs and provide documents in English so that patients can seek re-imbursements back home. However, they provided me with 3 CDs which contain all images (X-rays and CT scans and something else which I do not have time to review). The drawback is that I have to run the software to view images. He should provide images in pdf form, making it more convenience to patients to submit to other dentists overseas for following up if needed.
In general, I feel Nha Khoa Nhan Tam achieves what I expected in term of the medical expertise, friendliness of staff members.
I hope the information would help both the clinic and travelers for their dental work.

Excellent review of the facility!  Thank you so much for taking the time to post it and being so thorough.  Could you tell us what country you traveled from, how you heard about Nha Khoa Nhan Tam, and how many implants you did?  Did you need any grafting?  And will you have to go back to get the bridge done or did they install it right away?

Thanks again!
I am from the US and did some research on the dentistry in Vietnam. I contacted Dr. Nhan and he replied quickly and clearly quoted. I chose this clinic over the more well known one (even the price is about the same) after reading some reviews on the web and reviews of his education background. I had seen the doctors there for 5 times. The first one is to prepare for the bridge work and the next one is the implant and fixing the infection on the bridge. The rest of the visits is to try on and install the new bridge. Please note that I only had the implants put in. I have to wait for the bone grafting completely healed (3-6 months or more) before starting the abutments and crowns.
Makes total sense.  I was wondering because I've read a lot of reviews and also my mother went through it.  She had to do bone grafting and had to wait six months.  Most of the time, getting implants is not an in-and-out kind of procedure, so I was wondering the logistics for you, coming from abroad, in this case the US.  Like do you fly back and forth?  Do you stay in a hotel?  Do you have help for after surgery?  Does the doctor take care of all of the travel and lodging and transportation arrangements, or at least help with them?
I grew up in Saigon and quite familiar with it, therefore I did not need any help from his office. Besides, I have some relatives to help me with the post procedure issues. I am considering to fly back in 6 months or 1 year to have the abutments and crowns done. The saving is worth another short trip to complete it.
Oh, that's great!  And then you can visit family again, too :).  I wonder if the doctor's office is used to dealing with people from overseas who don't have family there.

I hope you'll come back and update us then!  I'd love to see pictures :).
While I was there I have seen many foreigners (Australians, Vietnamese abroad...) who come to have their dental work done. I am sure that the office would be willing to help you find some place to stay near the office and other extra services. The office is on an extremely busy street I recommend to stay in a hotel in 10th or 3rd district and take the cab there. The food and other entertainment located mostly in 3rd and 5th district. In the 1st district, there are luxury spots that you can enjoy while staying (Dong Khoi, Le Loi Street...), but they are expensive even in compare to Western standards. Besides, Dr. Nhan is very good in response to your inquiries and I am sure he would direct his staffs to assist you further.
You've been extremely helpful!!!  Thank you for all of that information! :)
One last note about Nha Khoa Nhan Tam. Both my wife and I had the implants done here. There is one problem that is bothering us. Instead of making the crowns individually, the office decided to make some of the adjacent teeth into one crown without telling us in advance. The office claims that by doing that, the implants would be stronger and more stable. After a few months, I still don't feel comfortable with them. Also, I paid for each of the crown individually and I want to be informed and the decision is mine instead of the doctor. The office needs to respect the patients instead of treating them in this manner.
