At age 71 I was spending the winter in Puerto...
At age 71 I was spending the winter in Puerto Vallarta and, after four wonderful tours to places in Mexico and Cuba, I thought, why not try to research plastic surgeons? My "marionette lines" and a sagging chin were looking at me in the mirror every morning and I found that I was smiling "often" - but mostly to prevent people from thinking I was "frowning".
I asked my friends in PV and did a web search, finally deciding to meet with two plastic surgeons. I am SO GLAD that I selected Dra Nashielli! The other doctor I met with did not have a web site that I could find, and charged a consultation fee (she did not). He examined me and gave me feedback, but when I asked about references, the response was that he "didn't usually do that" but could "probably come up with something." Dra Nashielli not only used her I-Pad to show me dozens of "before and after" photos extensively in our first meeting, but her Assistant, Lori, immediately followed up with references over the course of the next few days. Two of them I corresponded with electronically and one I met with over breakfast at Daiquiri Dicks and we became friends! I told each one that I wasn't 't afraid to hear about any problems; I just wanted to know how they were resolved if they had them. None did.
I had my surgery on March 30, 2017. I previously had my eyelids lifted (on insurance in the U.S.) last summer, so we did not need to do those or my forehead. The surgery went amazingly well, although I had no idea it would be quite that long. I was wheeled into surgery about 11:00 a.m. and got back to my room at 9:30 p.m., with one hour in the recovery room - which I remember none of! Dr. Nashellli, the anesthesiologist, and some other folks were back in my room at 7:00 a.m. to check on me and change my bandage. I was on my way home around 9:30.
My recovery was amazing. I had to learn to sleep on my back for a few days but it worked. I had absolutely no pain EVER. A little over two weeks later I headed back to the U.S. While I also love my doctors here in the U.S. I tell my friends that if I am ever sick or injured while in the U.S. they can just drive me to the airport! Medical services in PV are first class in my experience, and one really feels they are cared for by the medical staff. The same was absolutely true for Dra Nashielli and for Lori Payne, who the payment process was a bit problematic but Dra Nashielli and the staff worked it out for me.
Attached are some before and after photos, the first one was from 2014 as I was hiking around Mt. Hood in Oregon and I put it on to show, not only what I look like without makeup, but because it was before my eyelids were lifted and that is another procedure that was so worth while. Those things sneak up on us gradually and photos tell the story!
