I always just thought I had bedroom eyes or had a sleepy look which I covered with heavy liner, but when my ophthalmologist told me (unprompted) I could get my heavy lids corrected I started investigating in earnest. I found 2 doctors in BH that had great reviews but then my dermatologist also recommended Dr Taban so I scheduled my consultation with him right away. I am really not someone who does plastic surgery - I get a little filler here and there but always appreciated a natural look. Getting my eyes done seemed a little indulgent but they had always bothered me and since turning 40 I felt they were getting much worse and I wanted to do something nice for myself that wouldn't look fake, just like a more rested version of myself.
Dr Taban's office is accessible, intimate, clean, professional and quite busy but there was very little wait time. Our consultation wasn't long, but he answered all my questions. He also put some drops in my worse (Left) eye to contract the muscle under my eyelid. Immediately the eyelid receded and it was quite clear that I was a good candidate for Ptosis surgery. I hadn't thought my right eye was as bad but once the Left eye opened I realized how closed both my lids really were. I asked Dr Taban about some botox, an eyebrow lift and other thoughts but he discouraged me. I appreciate he didn't try to over sell me. He specializes in eyes and is an oculist surgeon so he recommended he only do my eye area and for anything else I go to my normal dermatologist or filler specialist. He did recommend I use a little filler in the hallow of my eye to abate the sunken eye look. I agreed to this and I'm glad I did.
The day of my surgery I was very nervous but excited. I have a very low tolerance for pain and the idea of someone using a needle in my eyes was terrifying. Dr Taban and his team did his best to calm me down. In all honesty, I had a complete panic attack during the short surgery even though I took the Xanax they prescribed beforehand. The entire operation (done in Taban's office while I was awake) was about 25 minutes and I was shaking and crying the whole time. The nurse was very sweet and she held my hand and gave me a second Xanax which helped. I probably should have had 2 Xanax from the start knowing that I can barely handle lip injections. Thankfully, the surgery was over quickly and I rested for about 15 mins before being escorted into an uber home. There wasn't really any pain after the surgery and I went home to rest.
I bruise very easily and my right eye seemed to swell up more than my left. I developed a medium bruise on the lid of my right eye. The left looked a little swollen, but not terrible. There were 2 small stitches on each eyelid and Dr Taban put contacts in my eyes to keep them from getting scratched/dried out. I stayed home for 2 days and then wore sunglasses once I left the house. I don't think anyone could really tell and besides my eyes being a little dry, I wasn't in any pain. My eyes already looked a lot better and much more symmetrical.
I returned a week after the surgery to have the stitches removed. Aside from some minor bruising, I felt like my eyes healed almost immediately after the stitches and contact lenses came out. The bruising was completely gone after 2 weeks.
I am now a month out and all my friends say "wow, you look great!" Most of them don't know that I did anything. They just assume I am more rested. My closest friends say that it looks completely natural and I look better than I ever have. I am SO THRILLED with Dr Taban's amazing surgery. Thank you so much! I only wish I had done this years ago.

Did he lift the lid or go inside of eye and tighten the muscle? I don't see any scars anywhere. You look amazing
Great improvement. Thank you for sharing.
I checked out Dr. Taban as well. His work is really. Do you mind sharing the other doctor you were looking into?
