PRP - my hair loss has progressed faster than before

It pains me to write a review like this -- I try to avoid negative feedback for small businesses but I think this commentary is necessary for women who are seeking treatments for hair loss.  Hair loss in women is a debilitating condition to experience. Watching your hair fall out is literally akin to psychological torture. The current medical environment leaves us with few doctors with true expertise on the issue.

I did 4 sessions of PRP with Dr. Kong over a course of 4 months earlier this year. I approached the service with modest expectations -- and per my conversations with Dr. Kong, I expected that my hair loss would either stay the same or (hopefully, as was the goal) get better with the treatments. Therefore, I considered this treatment no-risk and was willing to pay $2700 to test if this could be a viable long-term solution.

While I experienced some mild increased shedding during the first month of the treatment, 3 months after the day of my last session (and right before I was about to book my maintenance session) I experienced intense shedding that continues even to this day. I went from losing 15-20 hairs in the shower over the last 2 years of thinning to now losing 30-40 hairs plus per shower. My dermatologist told me that I may be experiencing an episode of TE due to these PRP treatments. TE typically occurs 3 months after a traumatic event — the hair get shocked into entering the telogen (shedding)state. TE can last up 6 months, but could last longer if it develops into chronic telogen effluvium.

This has been an incredibly distressing outcome to endure, and my hair loss has progressed faster than before. I now wear hair fibers to conceal my scalp, something that I did not do prior to treatment. My end result was paying $2700 for my hair thinning to accelerate.

Please, please do your research before exploring PRP. I have since learned that PRP is not a standardized treatment, and therefore results can vary greatly depending on the experience and technique of your practitioner. Had I known TE would be a risk, I would have never explored this as a treatment, and I wish this was communicated to me prior. I regret my decision immensely.
