WORTH IT
So i've been in this web site for a couple of months after 1 yr of research and hearing testimonials about Gastric bypass this is the only website i found helpful in making my decision. My teenage life was healthy and my weight was in control. But as i hit 30 yrs old a tragedy happened in my life were i became serverly depressed and eating was my only comfort. I then started gaining weight and became a couch potato gaining and eating was my life, until i got diabetes type 2, thiroid, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, anxiety, and sleep apnea, drinking 8 different pills a day. Sleeping with an oxygen machine, and feeling so huge and ashamed of my body and cloth sizes i decided to look myself in the mirror and find my true self somewhere in their. And most important fight myself out of all that extra cushion on me that made me feel so lost. Thanks to this website i found all your testimonials very important and helpful, it motivated me in someway. All summer i spent going to all the doctors appointments needed and requested to get this surgery. I'm finally done, my operation is scheduled for 10-27-2015. I'm still not decided if i want gastric bypass or gastric sleeve i do weight now 248 lbs and my height is 5'3. My goal is 130 lbs at least. I will post pictures as soon as the surgery is done before and after pictures. I would like to help people that are out their looking for real testimonials to make a decision just like all these beautiful and courageous ladies and men have post their testimonials and help me reach my decision and inner courage. I was blessed to hear all your stories, however i 'am a little concerned about the skin hanging. But i guess exercise and commitment will take care of that concern. Thank you all for helping me in this decision you are ALL part of my new beginning and my new blessed life.

I had the Gastric Bypass and other than becoming anemic I've not had no real issues.... It was and still is the Best Decision I've ever made for myself... It Saved My Life!!! I would show picture's but I don't see how to do it!!! Anyways, Good Luck with your decision but you need to realize at this point in your life(if anything like mine was!) DOING SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING!!! SO EITHER OF THE TWO SURGERY'S WILL BE BETTER THAN NEITHER OF THE TWO!!! GOD BLESS..... SLD014, Alabama!!! RTR!!!

I had Gastric ByPass surgery in 2012. It was a pretty new procedure at the time (at least in my part of the country) I have lost over 100 pounds & have maintained that loss for the entire time since my Surgery. I had a Hysterectomy about 8 years ago & after that I did gain about 10 stubborn pounds. Whether the Hysterectomy hormonal change was a factor, I really do not know.

Oops. I pushed the wrong button. **** In the past year I have lost those 10 pounds plus an additional approx. 10. I feel absolutely fantastic. I have a positive attitude about life even though I have had much sorrow with the loss of my husband 11 months ago. **** I would have the Gastric ByPass again in a heart beat even with all of the adjustments & changes that are required to make it work as it is intended. *** As my surgeon told me prior to my surgery, The surgery is not a cure for Obesity. It is a tool to conquer it. You have to lear to work with "the tool".

But I know that if you could do exercise and go back to eating healthy you could loose those 10 stubborn pounds, you just have to continue and keep putting effort and make time at least to walk and those 10,pounds are GONE believe in urself like when you started your journey.

I had my Gastric ByPass in 2002 not 2012. Sorry for mis info. I do not see a way to correct my error. ~~~~~ I continued my post in another paragraph which evidently does not pop up.

Thank you Dazzle750. I continued my post in another paragraph as my original posted unintentionally prior to my finishing & proofing it. My Gastric ByPass was in 2002 not 2012, I have lost the stubborn 10 pounds & an additional 10 in the past year. I discontinued HRT after 18 years. Whether this had an effect on the ability to lose those pounds, I do not know. I am a very slender 69 year old & work very hard & faithfully at being in the best health & condition that I can be. One day at a time, going forward. :-)
