I'm going in to get Profound RF treatment today for lower face laxity and skin tightening (I don't have wrinkles yet). As I've entered my mid-thirties, I don't like how my lower face has gotten wider and started to sag. It's also become somewhat asymmetrical (it always was but it's gotten worse). I'll keep everyone updated here on how this goes if anyone else is considering Profound RF for skin tightening / laxity treatment.

Just had profound on my face and under the chin about 4 hours ago. The doctor did 450 insertions total at 69 degrees for 4 seconds. I was prepped with topical numbing cream for about 40 minutes before heading into the procedure room. The first (and worst) step was injecting the anaesthetic into my face. It actually hurt more than I expected, kind of like beestings to the face. Additionally, the epinephrine in the injections makes your heart beat a little fast. The doctor offered me a Valium to counteract that but I didn't feel I needed it. Once I was numbed up, he started the Profound treatment.
Like I said, I had about 180 insertions on each side of my face and another 80 under my chin. There was no pain on 99% of the Profound needle insertions but around the edges of my face where there was less anaesthetic I did feel something happening (thought I wouldn't really call it painful at all). The only weird thing that happened during the insertions was that it made my lip twitch during one insertion near my mouth. The doctor assured me this is normal as sometimes the RF energy can stimulate nearby muscles. Definitely felt weird and kind of funny for those 4 seconds though.
After he finished, I was surprisingly not swollen. Only a little with a generally red appearance where I had been treated. I had some Aquaphor applied by the nurse and headed home on the train.
During the trainride home, I could feel my face swelling more and more, but no one seemed to notice. The shiny Aquaphor was more noticeable than the swelling.
Right now (about 4 hours post) I'm definitely swollen where I was treated and have a moon-face going on. Nothing too crazy, but I look fat. I'm currently icing on and off with a headwrap that has icepacks in it that I bought on Amazon. I've also been taking Arnica tablets and plan to keep that up until the swelling is completely back to normal (hopefully soon). Supposedly the swelling is worst at 48 hours, which is a little scary since I'm super swollen right now, but we'll see.

The day after Profound RF
Mark83June 20, 2018
OK, I'm exactly 28 hours after the last insertion with Profound yesterday. I'm more swollen than I was last night and look like Fat [RS bleep] from Austin Powers. I seriously look like an obese person from the neck up. I emailed my physician with a before and after (current) picture and he said that the swelling was within normal range and should "go down by Thursday morning". I'm not sure if that means it will only start to go down on Thursday but I hope he means it will be significantly less swollen by then.
There is zero pain but my face is literally inflated like a balloon which kind of freaks me out since my goal was to TIGHTEN skin, not stretch it out! I haven't left the house but had Amazon deliver Bromelain and food so I can hide until I look semi-normal again. Hopefully the Bromelain will help. Also just finished the last of my Arnica Montana so I'll have to get more tomorrow. Praying that I can leave the house tomorrow!
I think that either the swelling aspect of Profound RF is downplayed, or I was just super sensitive for some reason. I have never had any part of my body swell this much and look like a puffer fish. My lower face is WAY WIDER than my head right now :/
Again, no pain, just intense swelling. Surprisingly no bruising at this point either, but the pink welts are visible where the RF energy was delivered to my dermis.

I got that kind of swelling from a BBL laser, I looked like "Fat Monica from Friends" in in my face for TWO WEEKS!

Thanks for sharing with your progress. I am having mine done next month. Kind of hesitating.

It's a safe procedure. I'm not going to even consider judging its efficacy until the 3-6 month marks. That said, you have to have realistic expectations of your results. This isn't a facelift, but should rejuvenate in most cases. I'm surprised at the reviews saying people look worse after the procedure. I do hope they're wrong. I'm doing well so far at a month out.

OMG - sorry I say I was glad to see someone else looks as I do !!! I’m so worried my face is going to scar!!! I’m on day 7 and of course that’s not what I was told-which is why I’m mad due to work issues!! Especially the saggy neck thing!

I had Profound in August 2018, not sure how this is going to turn out. Does not look like much improvement now.
Thank you! I will keep posting through the entire process to keep everyone updated. I just got another set of icepacks out of the fridge. I'd definitely tell anyone who gets this to expect major swelling, despite the literature saying "mild swelling".
