I've just had lingual braces fitted aged 37 to fix my crooked smile. I've always felt self conscious about my teeth but didn't really know how to get them fixed. To be honest, braces didn't cross my mind - as a teenager, my dentist told me to 'leave well alone', and an appointment at a private dental studio a few years ago only led to suggestions of shaving the teeth down and fitting veneers, which I didn't fancy on healthy (albeit slightly crooked) teeth.
I'm having braces on my bottom teeth too but on the front rather than behind. I can't wait to see my smile change for the better. The prospect of being able to smile, laugh and talk without feeling horrible about my snaggletooth is very exciting. I can't say the brace has felt comfortable this week, but it's starting to feel better now!

I had lingual braces on both my upper and lower teeth 7 months ago. I would say the first month is the most difficult. I had trouble chewing and eating. But as of now, I can pretty much do everything I did before braces. I have no lisp and can eat keep almost anything. I stay away from hard foods. No one at work or at home have noticed them.
I am sure after your 1st month you will not even notice them. Some foods you find difficult now we be easier to eat as time goes by.
I am very happy with them this far. It will just take you sometimes for your tongue to get used to them.
