How I Wish I Could Move on from This Mistake Already - Pristine Laser Center - Altamonte Springs, FL

It's been a week since my most recent treatment. I was going to do the r20 method but decided not to because I didn't want to worsen my hypopigmentation. However I may consider doing it for my next appointment since I plan to wait longer in between treatments. The doctor estimated that I would need about 4 more treatments. *fingers crossed*

I love your post. Thank you for the part about willing to forgive yourself. I got a tattoo at fifteen, and got it removed when I was eighteen and smarter. My biggest mistake was getting it, but I really liked it, I just didn't like the way people reacted to it back then. So, my second biggest mistake was having it removed because of what others thought. Way back then they only had skin graphs, and luckily I went to a very good plastic surgeon. It hurt like hell to have it removed, and I still have a scar. Now after all of these years, and having read your post, I'm going to finally forgive myself for what I did in my wild and crazy youth. Thank you.
Thank you :). I'm flattered that I helped you to forgive yourself. I'm glad that there are more options nowadays for tattoo removal.
I know you posted this a while ago, but I was wondering if you'd made anymore progress?

At the med spa I was treated with the Candela AlexTriVantage laser. At the new laser center I've been recently going to I've been treated with the Medlite C6 laser. Both lasers were 1064 nm wavelength.

Hi vele- I'm glad to hear that you're not dwelling on the past mistake of ink regret. It's a very powerful emotion but ultimately, there's no point in dwelling...rather that energy should be spent looking and moving forward. In regards to your treatments- the Medlite is supposedly great for darker skin pigments...however, I would be very wary of the R20 process. I was told by a Dr that it has not shown to be of any greater affect on removing more ink per session. The thing about laser removal is that the laser ONLY shatters the ink- it's our bodies (lymph/immune system) that carries and flushes away the ink. This flushing takes time as our bodies work slow in this regard. Treating w/ the R20 is basically just shattering the same ink twice, b/c the first pass of shattered ink did not have time to move/be flushed out b/c the next laser pass. Also, the intensity of the laser can cause more scarring and hypopigmentation for yr skin tone. More scarring can impede the next laser session as the scar tissue will deflect the laser beam and not allow it to reach the deeper ink. Ultimately it's yr call...but getting one laser session (perhaps at a less intense setting due to yr skin tone) would be wise in my opinion. Yr body WILL continue to flush away the shattered ink, up to a year after each session. Keep pics, as results can only really be "seen" in the span of weeks/months. Good luck to you!!!
*b/f the next laser pass
Oh and I mean getting 1 laser session AT A TIME (vs R20 method)...not like just 1 session a year!! Still for ppl w/ darker skin tones, you must be wary of hypopigmentation and therefore, proceed at lower laser settings and slightly longer time in b/w sessions. Again, ultimately yr call...
Thank you so much for your advice :). After my r20 session on Monday I plan to wait at least 2 1/2 months before I go back for another session. To be honest I haven't seen much results so far which is kind of disappointing :(. Hopefully the longer recovery time will give me better results.
Yr quite welcome :) sounds good..laser is such a mystery so nothing I say is ever 100%...but after going through it and having read so much over the past years, it's just most logical to me and what I saw in some instances of my sessions. I hope yr treatment goes well and that you recover fast :)
Hey, I too have a forearm tattoo, very similar however my placement is 100x worse. I understand how you feel, I wish I would have chosen a different location. Looking good though, and I admire your strength and positive outlook. Good luck :)
Thank you! :) I actually would rather have a tattoo where yours is because it's easy to conceal.
Ive gotten horrible comments about it though, if I had a dollar for every time someonesaid something negative about the placement, I could have probably paid for the entire removal lol
Hi vele, I'm also removing a forearm tattoo. I too wish that I could go back and undo my mistake (and my second tattoo mistake as well). The Cynosure MedLite and RevLite are excellent lasers. Can't wait to see how it fades, especially with the R20 method.
Thanks! :) I just checked out your review and your forearm tattoo looks like it faded drastically.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share :)  Your positive outlook on this will help you along the way. Wish you luck on your journey.
Thanks Eva for your words of encouragement :). I'm trying to stay positive as much as I can.
I have so many tattoos on my forearms too and now I'm planning to get married and I have been rejected for this sole reason…as I come from a conservative culture. I don't know what to do..I took 10 Lazer sessions but it only made it worse…it's a big scar of green and red now…event the make up is not covering it up. I'm so stressed and spending sleepless nights…can you imagine not getting married for this sole reason…I have so much REGRET..SO MUCH ..
Is it possible to have the rest surgically removed ?
Archanam22, is it possible to have the rest of the tattoo surgically removed? i have a dark skin im african american and i have a mainly black tattoo with a lil green and red in it its a rose and its on my stomach naval area and ive been told that if i got it lasered it could actually make it worse. i got the tattoo to cover up a scar i have from two hernia surgeries ive had on my belly button as a baby. which left me with a scar and a disformed belly button i thought getting this tattoo to cover this up would make me feel better and more confident in myself but it only makes me feel worse. on the positive side of getting this tattoo well having this tattoo its made me realize that scars arent bad they just tell a story and tell that u have been through something and survived. And i dont care what ppl think anymore about my scar or about me period. before i got this tattoo i cared so much of what ppl thinked of me and what they would say if they saw my scar etc..i think thats mainly why i got the tattoo in the first place because i was scared of what ppl thought and i just wanted the scar covered to not have ppl question me on what happen to my stomach and belly button. i have gotten some rude comments from time to time when i was a teenager mainly and a few before i got the tattoo. comments like ...." what happen to ur stomach did u have a c section" or ew what happen to ur belly button it looks weird" etc... i was so afraid of what ppl would say to me so the first chance i got to try and cover this i jumped right on it, not even thinking about how permanent this tattoo would be. but now ive had this tattoo for 6 months and although i hate it with a passion because u can still see my scar and my disformed belly button. getting this tattoo i have learned alot about myself that i didnt know before and ive stopped caring of what ppl think as well. plus ive meet some pretty good ppl along the way. So try and think of the positives in every situation and as far as ur scarred tattoo goes if someone doesnt wanna marry you because of that then they didnt wanna marry you in the first place. Im still not happy with this tattoo but im going to get mine surgically removed and hopefully in the process my belly button can be reconstructed or fixed to look more normal. So keep ur head up ur not the only one with regret over a tattoo. if i told you what i went through after leaving the tattoo shop and the months after you would be SHOCKED. Good luck with ur wedding plans i wish you the best and just think positive things will work out in ur favor!
I like yr response Williams :) just wanted to tell you...and I agree- how we see ourselves is what is most important, b/c we cannot live for others. Good luck to you both!
Thanks and good look to u as well
I know exactly how you feel. I come from a conservative background as well. The moment I showed my mom my tattoo she became really angry at me for getting a tattoo in a place that was easily visible. Maybe you could consider excision or try Dermablend.
Sorry to hear how bad you are struggling with your regret and that it caused such a loss for you Archanam22. What kind of laser were you treated with?
Don't marry that person or into that family. If someone is going to reject you over a little thing like a tattoo, just think about what they will do to you if you really did something bad. They will always attack your self-esteem. Find someone else that isn't so close minded. I mean really... it's just a tattoo, it's not like you killed someone.

Have you ever wished you could go back in time and...

Have you ever wished you could go back in time and do something differently? I do. I wish I could go back a few years to that day in September and stop myself from getting a tattoo on my forearm. I honestly didn't think a tattoo would cause me so much unhappiness. I feel very ashamed of my tattoo. I am still upset for allowing myself to get something permanent on that part of my body. However I am willing to forgive myself and I am determined to fix this mistake. I have had 5 treatments total. I've had two treatments done at a med spa and I've recently changed places. I've had one treatment and I've had one r20 session at the new place I've been going to. I have another r20 session this Monday. I've noticed that there is not much reviews for tattoo removal for people with darker skin and I'm hoping my review will be helpful.

This review u wrote this is excatly how i feel about my tattoo. i hate it. and cant wait to get rid of it u took the words right out my mouth i totally wish i could go back and tell myself not to get this tattoo
I'm glad that I'm not the only person going through this. I'm Haitian and Dominican, and have had a little bit of hypopigmentation. But I noticed the pigment has started to come back. And my tattoo was only black ink. Any other questions you have feel free to ask :)!
