I recently travelled to Phuket to have surgery at PPSI Hospital. I am a petitie woman (Aust size 10 - 12) with large breasts, see before photo, black dress. My primary areas of concern were my upper back (bra strap area) and abdomen. I clearly articulated this to the surgeon, prior to surgery. We agreed on circumferential vaser lipo procedure (200,00THB) ($8,500 Aust) PPSI require payment in full, prior to surgery. I also suggested, as surgery was the next day, that we mark these areas with a defining marker, as we do in Australia. Dr Rushapol commented - 'not necessary'.
Procedure took place the following day and all went well, so I thought. I had a post op visit 3 days later but bandages were not removed. It was not until I arrived home to Australia and removed banages and compression garment to shower, 5 days later, that I noticed very little bruising to my upper back, above my waistine. I was seriously disapointed, as I understood that circumferential liposuction included upper and lower abdomen and upper and lower back (Medical Definition - Circumferential - Pert to the periphery or circumference or perimeter of a body, an enclosing circular boundary around the body). Did I get this all wrong? I clearly discussed the four areas that would be included in the procedure with Dr Rushapol and he did not mention any additional cost for upper back area and we did not speak about 'love handles'.
PPSI Hospital in phuket claim to provide a Guarantee of Service, so I contacted the Hospital's Risk Manager, who has advised that the Review Board at PPSI are of the view, that circumferential liposuction of the body means upper and lower abdomen and lower back and love handles. I never discussed or requested liposuction on my (love handles) and I do not believe that I required any lipo in this area. Bottom line is, I did not get what I paid $8,500 Aust. In fact, my main area of concern was not addressed at all.
I would appreicate any advice. Thanks Pauline
