29 Years Old, Finally Did It! Poland, PO

I wanted to get rhinoplasty since I was 15. At the age of 29 I decided it was finally the right time. Because the surgeons in my country are not very good at doing noses, I decided to get my nose done in Poland, with Dr. Skupin in Poznan. Before I picked him, I did a lot of research in Polish forums using google translate haha, to find out what surgeon got the best reviews. And it came down to three doctors: Skupin, Lembas, and Wojcicki. After checking out a lot of his work (and other plastic surgeon's work) on a forum called www.beautywpolsce.pl I decided that I liked his noses the best :)

Skupin is a popular surgeon, so when I called his clinic in September last year to book a consultation, the earliest available time he had for me was at the end of February this year (!). I then managed to book the date of my surgery (06.06.2016) after I sent some pictures of my nose by email (usually you book the date of your surgery after you've had the consultation, but then you would have to wait an additional 5-6 months for an available date, and I really wanted my surgery in June).

Day of Surgery
I was not as nervous as I thought I would be! I think I did so much worrying the last couple of days that I couldn't be bothered anymore ;) My boyfriend went with me to the clinic and we arrived at 08.00. In the waiting room were already two other girls and one guy, who had all brought someone with them (later I realized that they were also getting their noses done). I was the last person to get all the documents from the receptionist (who spoke English) which I had to fill out. After that she brought my boyfriend and I inside the clinic, and told me I was going to be the first person to be operated on (which was exactly what I was hoping for!). Another nurse took us to my room, which had two single beds (but I didn't get a room mate), a bathroom, and a TV. She told me that the Doctor would come shortly. After that, another nurse came and checked my blood pressure and my temperature. Then Skupin came and asked me to follow him to another room where I also spoke to the anesthesiologist. He asked me once again what it was that I wanted to change about my nose. I told him I wanted him to remove the hump, make the nose bridge narrower, and also make the nose shorter in profile. I also told him I didn't want my nose to look too piggy. He said that because of the swelling it might look that my nose tip will be too raised, but that the tip will drop as the swelling subsides, and that I shouldn't get scared if it will look too raised. Then he took some pictures, and 10 minutes later I was lying on the operating table. The anesthesia went fine, and the next thing I know I was back in my room with a cast covering my nose.

1 week post surgery
I got the cast off on Monday (13.06.2016), and I am so happy with the result!! I expected it to look really huge because of the swelling, I just can't believe how cute it looks!

Total cost (surgery+one night at the clinic): 8500 zl, which is approx. 2135 dollars.

No bruising!

I just thought I would mention what supplements and vitamins I have been taking during the time of my surgery, since I basically had no bruising except for a tiny one under my right eye which disappeared quickly:

-Arnica Montana - started the day before surgery, and continued 3 days after surgery
-Bromelain - started the day before surgery, and then stopped taking them because the pills are pretty big, and I felt uncomfortable trying to swallow them when I had the tamponades inside my nose. I started taking Bromelain again 8 days post-op and will continue
-Vitamin c + rutin - started 2 weeks before surgery, and I've been taking them until now and will continue
-Vitamin B complex - I'm also taking this everyday since a few days before surgery, but I have no idea if that really helped
-Green tea - after reading that it may help to reduce swelling, I started drinking 2 cups/day 8 days post-op

15 days post op

It has now been 15 days since my surgery. I noticed that 2-3 days after the cast was removed, my nose really started to swell, especially in the tip region. Since then the swelling has improved, but the nose is still very swollen.

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that my upper lip got so stiff after the surgery. After the cast was removed none of my upper teeth were showing when I tried to smile. My lip is still stiff, but it's getting better every day. I hope my smile will come back to normal soon!

5 weeks post op

So it's been 5 weeks since my surgery, and the swelling is slowly decreasing. I'm very happy with my nose so far :) My smile is basically back to normal, although I can feel that my upper lip is still swollen when I'm pushing it upwards with my finger. I'm still taking vitamin C, vitamin B complex, bromelain, and I also started taking turmeric to help reducing the swelling even more.

Some more photos…

I haven't posted any pictures recently, so I here you go :)

I'm now 20 weeks post op, and I'm still loving my nose. The bridge is more defined, and my nose tip isn't as swollen as it was before. My nose tip has also dropped a little bit.

I was sleeping with a neck pillow and two-three pillows behind my back for 6 weeks, then I started sleeping on my side.

My nose tip is still a little bit numb, and when I touch it it tingles a little bit.

I've posted pictures 9 weeks post op, and 20 weeks post op (the quality isn't so good unfortunately, I will try to post some more photos with better quality) :)
