WORTH IT$8,000
My experience with Dr. Kim has been the best. I did a ton of research to find him and he lives up to his great reviews in person. He has a comforting bedside manner and his confidence in his work put me at ease.

Deciding to have surgery
EsaurusJune 26, 2018
My nose has been crooked my whole life and it felt like by breathing had gotten worse and worse to the point that most days I couldn't breathe out of the right side of my nose much at all. I started a few months ago with a visit to my ENT who suggested all the usual remedies like saline rinses and allergy medication which I've been doing for years with not enough relief. Ultimately he said I was a good candidate for septoplasty so I had him give me a referral to a specialist.
The Dr that he recommended (Dr Michael Kim) is about 2.5 hours from home but his reviews on Realself and credentials made the choice easy after looking at the limited options closer to home.
I had a consultation on May 16 which went well. Dr Kim told me what I could expect as far as improved breathing and did a morph showing how my nose would look minus a pretty big hump. It was equally important to me to fix the inside and the outside. I'm looking forward to having a nose that fits me better and lets me breathe.
We were able to schedule the surgery for June 25th and I was happy to get things moving quickly. My insurance covered the septoplasty and I just had to pay for the rhino out of pocket.. Well worth the expense I hope once the cast comes off!

Day 2 post op

My surgery was yesterday. It was a pretty long day with check in at 9 am. My surgery didn't start till around 11:30 and then with bad traffic on the way home we didn't get home until 8 but I was feeling pretty well considering. I changed my mustache dressing a couple times yesterday but haven't had any more bleeding this morning so I've been able to leave it off.
I'm amazed that even with the splints and swelling I can still breathe better out of my nose than before the surgery. I don't have much bruising at all, just puffy face and eyelids. I'm due for an ice pack about now. The pain/discomfort is worse today than yesterday but totally manageable. I'll update more in the next few days to let you know how the recovery goes.
