I just had a second Cosmelan (MD) peel last week, after having one done about four years ago at a different medical spa and loving the results. The first time around, I had more dramatic peeling initially and very little after the first week even using Cosmelan 2 regularly until my container wore out. The effects lasted for at least a year: reduced melasma, better skin texture, less acne. My skin looked amazing for 38 and people commented on it.
This time around, the top layer of skin did peel off as before, but it wasn't as dramatic, and it happened more quickly and with less noticeable results. My face still shows even light hyperpigmentation all over. The Cosmelan 2 cream is more irritating and drying this time around.
I am a Fitzpatrick Type III, confirmed at the time of the peel appointment last week, so I left it on 8.5 hrs, which was .5 hrs longer than the max range she recommended. I knew my skin tolerated the peel from my first experience and I wanted dramatic results. I didn't get them.
Unlike the first time, they saved some Cosmelan MD 1 in case I wanted touch-ups. I do. I don't think it's enough to do the entire face, but hopefully enough to get rid of the still-visible hyperpigmentation and melasma. I'll update this post after the second round.
I wonder if they changed the formulation and/or if Cosmelan 2 is expected to be more effective now by continuing to lighten the skin.

Provider Review
Skin by Lovely
Skin by Lovely has the best customer service of any dermatologist, esthetician, medical spa, etc., I have ever been a patient of. They are professional, communicative, and welcoming. Can't recommend them highly enough. My ambivalence is just about the product, not at all about Skin by Lovely.
