Veneers UPDATE!

It’s been a long journey! But I wanted to continue giving you honest updates and wanted to wait until I was able to consult different dentists and specialists in the industry. Long story short, the feedback was the material of the veneers was not the best but was not bad in their opinion. They concluded the bonding material was not the best either and that my teeth needed to be shaved down more, which honestly I’m actually grateful to Dr.Beltre that he didn’t shaved them down more. It’s been 7 years , so I’m sure that by now he has improved all of this. I actually reached out to re-do everything over but at this point they’re charging full price, I rather just do it in the US, since I’m not able to fly back & forth to DR all the time. DR wasn't the issue, wherever you do veneers, it's not uncommon for veneers to come off. Yes a lot of factors also play into this. In my case, before botox I suffered from bruxism, this was confirmed once I got here to the US. Which played a role in my veneers falling off quicker. Veneers is not for everyone. The cost is also a major factor. Flying back to DR every time one falls off was crazy, so I payed the price here. Do your research & consult prior.

6th Veneer Gone!

User Avatar

Back to the dentist office I go. The 5th veneer was last year November. I have receipts from all my visits to the dentist, which of course insurance does not pay for cosmetics and so far I have spent about 1,600 additional aside from the 9,000 I spent for the veneers, travel expenses, hotel, miscellaneous.

4TH VENEER - GONE!

Yet again, another veneer fell off while I was brushing my teeth. I brush with a soft tooth brush, floss in a up & out motion, & I cut my food into pieces and ofcourse eat with my back teeth. Even though I was not diagnosed with teeth grinding here in NY or NJ by top reputable Dentists, I still wear a dental guard at night. Still, with all the paranoid care veneers keep falling off. This time the veneer cracked and a partial veneer was left on my teeth. I will be once again scheduling a appointment with my dentist and spending $250 for bonding. Now, mind you I can no longer use this veneer to bond back, thank God I never threw away the veneer that came off originally for this exact same tooth. Is sad when dentists make you believe porcelain veneers last up to 10 years, so far in MY experience mine has not lasted 7 months. Once I finish Nurse Practitioner school I will be flying out to ATL to the best in the world for a full re-evaluation , but right now all I can do is keep bonding back, unless another one cracks and I have no replacement , then I will be spending $2,000-3000 for one veneer here in NY.

sorry to hear this but thanks for posting. you are saving a lot of people from making a huge mistake. Who is the ATL dr? and does your original dr take no responsibility? I guess even if he did, the expense to travel would make it not worth it

Yea, he did say he will fix it if I travel, but what is the point? I gave him a second chance and they just keep falling

Iam sorry you are having such bad luck with them. I ve had my veneers for 20 years and zero issues. Every dentist has varying degrees of skill on how to do them. 3000$ /tooth is way to much in my opinion around 1000$ /tooth....this Canadian btw....is a fair price and should good you a good lonlasting quality job. No one should be able to tell that you have them, that's my idea of a good job but that's just me. This site is an invaluable resource , good luck

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you, it is very expensive, but I just want this nightmare to be over. Now that I'm finished with NP school I can finish this veneers journey. I will keep you all posted in whatever I decide.

For anyone interested in who my Dr was, it was Dr Norm Beland located in Timmons, ON, Canada. Yes it's way up there lol, I don't reside there any more but Windsor, ON. It's been 20 years since I had my veneers placed and originally had four. Now I would like to get them replaced along with additional ones. So in total I would like to get 18-20 veneers. 10 upper and 10 lower.

Is he still practicing since is been 20 years lol. I going to look him up, but I doubt I'll be going to Canada. Thanks for sharing

Yes, he had just graduated from dental school. I was his very first patient that he put veneers on. They are so good in fact that over the years in different offices for dental checkups the respective dentist would ask do you have veneers. The margins and blending are that good. It's been 20 years and Iam sure he's only gotten better. He has another 25+ years before retiring. He's still relatively young, in his mid forties.
