My end goal is to feel more comfortable in my own skin. Ever since I was 13 my breasts have been the same size. I’m not knocking small boobs, but I don’t enjoy the size and shape on my body, so I’m doing something to change it! I am currently a 32A to a 34A depending on the brand, but I haven’t ever been in a B cup. I was measured to for a B cup, but when I put it on it didn’t fit properly, so I don’t think it counts.

Scheduled Pre-Op and Post-Op Appts

Rhighsmith96
I got a call two days ago to schedule my pre-op and post-op appointments!! I’m so excited thinking about all of this!! They let me know that whoever is going to be with me the day of my surgery will need to be at my pre-op appointment so they can let them know what to expect and what I can and can’t do. Also, I have to stop all Advil and birth control use at least two weeks before my surgery, as well as another list of medications that they will mail out to me. The good news is I will be able to take Tylenol if I get a pesky headache or cramps or anything. My appointments are the day before the surgery and the day after, so they’re going to be keeping a close eye on me. I have to be at the surgery center 1hr and 30mins before my surgery time, and if I remember correctly they said the procedure should take an 1hr and 45mins, but I’m not sure, so don’t quote me on that. I’m so beyond pleased with my choice of Dr. Calloway and his team. I’m only a few days into this process and I know I have made the right choice!!

I’m on the Other Side

Thank goodness I have done research online before I went in for my procedure, because some of this stuff could be scary if you weren’t expecting it.

My surgery was on Thursday 1/18/18 and I had to be at the surgery center at 5:30am for my 7:00am surgery. It was pretty easy process, I just finished up some paperwork and then they took me to the back to get ready for pre-op. They had me give a urine sample to do a pregnancy test to verify that I wasn’t pregnant. Then they took me to the pre-op/recovery area and I had to strip down to my underwear and then put on a gown that opens in the back, compression socks that went up to my bikini line and then a hair net. After I got changed they allowed my parents to come back and spend some time with me before the surgery, which was nice because it was then that I was starting to get nervous. When I was in the pre-op/recovery are waiting to go back to the O.R. they hooked me up to an IV and Dr. Calloway and Chelsea came in to mark me up. Before they did the outlines they asked my parents to leave due to my privacy and because after they were done marking me up it was time to go back and get started. When I got into the O.R. I was moved onto the operating table that was really narrow, and then the anesthesiologist gave me the hook up. The last thing I remember is the left arm of the table being attached (they strap both of your arms down, kinda like a cross) and then I was out.

When I was waking up in the recovery area I was on the verge of tears, not from pain but from the anesthesia, it can make some people emotional and I guess I’m one of those people lol. The nurse that was in there with me told me not to cry that I was ok and I needed to sit up and that she would go and get my parents so they could help me get ready. All I can really remember was that I didn’t really care how my boobs looked, I just wanted to not move and to go back to sleep. When they started moving me around I got nauseous from the pain of it all, so the nurse gave me some pain meds and some oxygen to calm me down. My mom almost threw up from seeing me like that, bless her lol. After a few mins I was good enough to start getting dressed again. I remember looking down and I was wrapped in ace bandages with gauze underneath, so there was no chance in seeing my boobs that day. But honesty, I didn’t care how my boobs looked and I still don’t (even being 4 days post op) because I know there is still so much that is going to change. Anyway, I got dressed and my parents got me home, and all I did for the rest of the day was sleep. I ate a little bit of soup so I could take my pain meds, but really I just slept and got up and down to go pee. Peeing was interesting the first time, my mom had to help me pull down my underwear because my arms weren’t working lol. Due to the fluids in the IV I was peeing constantly for the first two days, not so fun on your arms/pec muscles. Pretty much the day of my surgery was a blur, I only remember being woken up to eat and take my meds, other than that I was asleep due to the meds. Dr. Calloway called my mom around 6:30pm, I can’t remember exactly, but he was checking up on me. I found out I got 475cc’s in both, he said I was pretty much symmetric. He wanted to make sure that I was getting up and moving around regularly to prevent blood clots from forming. It’s an extremely low chance that I would develop them, but he wanted me to do it to be safe. Sleeping upright at night wasn’t that bad, I think it was easier because of the pain meds, to be honest. I could sleep standing up with those things (I was in Tylenol with Codeine).

My post op appointment was the day after my surgery at 8:30am, and we were about 15 mins late due to the fact that it took me 10x as long to do everything. We called ahead to Dr. Calloway’s Office and they were super understanding and patient with us. As soon as we got there they took me back and he came into the room to see me. He went over how I was feeling and everything, making sure that I wasn’t over doing anything and that I wasn’t showing and signs of anything going wrong. After a few mins of talking it was time to cut off my bandages and put me in my post op bra. When he got to take a look at me he saw that I had some shifting upwards, so that meant I had to use the strap of death. Which I was dreading, but it turns out it isn’t that bad. I had some serious bruising on the sides of both of my boobs, like I thought it was a hematoma, but it was just really ugly, gnarly bruises. I also had some bruising along my sternum, I guess from more pocket discretion, ya girl needs her cleavage lol. It was safe to say that I had Frankenboob for sure. He showed me how to do a “massage” that would help push my boob down and to the center. He did it for me, and boy was I ready to throw hands, that mess hurt. He showed me how to do it to myself but I didn’t have the strength to do it, my arms couldn’t leave my sides. After that they put me in my bra and strap and I was ready to go home. The appointment was short and west and I got everything I needed out of it. I’m really pleased with Dr. Calloway and his staff, they have been wonderful and super helpful through this whole process.
