I am one week out from my procedures (Mommy Makeover - full tummy tuck, breast life with small saline implants, and juvederm around mouth lines/lips) I'm getting really excited. I wonder if any one has some tips or tricks they would suggest that helped during the recovery. Like getting out of the recliner, best way to reduce swelling, etc. I will be posting pics soon.

Congrats to making it on the flat side! Tips for getting out of the recliner - log roll to one side and then slowly inch your way out. Other RSers have suggested tying some kind of rope like a jump rope to the leg of one side and pulling yourself out bcz you still have strength in your arms. Use alot of firm pillows to help position yourself in a spot that is easier to get in/out of. Tips to reduce swelling - watch what you eat (decrease salty foods), drink lots of water, and wear a TIGHT CG 24/7. I'm 3mos out and I still wear tight CGs - even to sleep. I have other tips that you might find useful on my blog. Good luck on your journey and welcome to the RS family! :)

Slow and steady on getting out of recliner. You don't want to pull an incision... I always had someone there to use as a " rope" to help me out. Always use your binder, it will help w swelling. And I agree on the low salt... Now is your time to watch everything that goes in your mouth... You've spent this much on surgery... Don't ruin it by eating too much. Start walking when you can... I am 4 months out and can now do a light jog. Still uncomfortable at times so I walk then. Your stomach muscles are stitched so tightly you can't eat much, ( your muscles don't give your stoach much room to expand) continue to eat less after your healing. Best of luck. Best decision I made.

Hi there! I am from Jacksonville and live in orlando now for 4 months. I am 2 weeks post op tummy tuck and breast lift. If you have ever had a c-section your recovery will be similar to that. You will walk bent over for a while, I still find myself slightly still walking at an angle. I sleep with my mattress up at an angle because you won't be able to lay flat. You have to wear your binder garment for six weeks and bra for four. You will love your recliner during the healing process lol. It keeps you at a comfortable position and you can adjust it as needed. Dr. Soto took one drain out the Monday after my surgery and the other came out last Wednesday. The binder garment is evil and uncomfortable by the way lol but necessary for healing and better results. Did your doctor tell or give you Arnica and Bromelain to start taking 3 days prior to your surgery? Helps with bruising and swelling. I know you are excited and u should be! I love my results so far.

I'm so glad you found us and started your story! You might want to read this pre- and post-op tips post.

What are you most looking forward to about life after your mommy makeover?
November 9, 2014
Being able to wear a normal bra (or none lol) and be able to breathe normally and not wear full length cami shaper things. Not feeling like a flamingo. (skinny legs huge round torso). Feeling more self confidence and being able to do more physical things in my life. (including take care of my first grandbaby arriving in April)

you're funny!...lol :o) I know exactly what you mean girl, I haven't been able to bare my belly in about 20 yrs. I'm glad that I get mine done this December so that come next summer I'll be able to wear a bikini top with shorts and get a nice tan, I have almost forgot what it's like to lay out and tan! And the shape wear! I want to throw all mine away! They hardly work anyway, my belly has always been able to show thru it. I'm looking forward to a nice cute belly button.

IKR? The shapewear helps but it is hot and not perfectly slimming. I am also so tired of the sore chafed skin under my sagging boobs.

I know what you mean... I had a yeast infection under one of my boobs once. It was a red rash and my Dr gave me that nystatin cream that cleared it up but now I keep baby powder with cornstarch under them...lol. the same goes with the skin flap on my belly, I have to keep it dry... I can't wait until that flap is gone!

Yes! I do that too. So annoying. I am soooo ready for this!

I know you're getting excited! Only 5 more days until you'll have a nice new body :o) Are you feeling nervous at all? I'm getting my procedure on Dec 15, and I cannot wait for the day! I'm trying to stay busy but the closer it gets the longer the days seem to be...lol! I hope you have a speedy recovery and get the results you want! Keep me posted!

;-) I am a little nervous...mostly about the recovery. I am trying to be realistic. I hope this helps enough with my back rolls and I don't have to go back again for lipo or back lift. Super excited for perky boobies lol.

What are you getting done?

I'm getting a tummy tuck with lipo of the upper abdomen, waist, hips, flanks, armpits and back for the bra rolls. What size implants are you getting put in? I had my boobs done about 8 yrs ago and it was the best thing I did! You're going to love your new boobs...lol. I went for a size D because I've heard of so many women getting size C then wanting bigger ones later on.
November 9, 2014
I wish I could get the back lipo too but doc says I gotta wait on that. ;-( I am wearing a C now but I was thinking going for a D. My plan originally was to just get the lift but if I'm going through all that I may as well have a nice rack. hee hee Did you have saline or silicone implants?
User Avatar

really? I don't know why your Dr won't do your back at the same time, he's already in there? My Dr said while in the OR, after the tummy and waist, he turns the patient on their side and gets the back, where the "bra rolls" are. I'm glad because I have those pretty bad... Whenever I wear a snug shirt, my back rolls show. I'm with you though, might as well get everything you can done while in there! I have saline implants.. I don't want silicone, they are too firm I think. I've had my D's for a while now and I have been considering getting a little bigger but hubby says he likes the size I am. You're surgery is only 4 days away! Are you still nervous, or is your excitement helping you get past it?
November 9, 2014
I'm not really nervous about the surgery, just the recovery. I am trying to plan on being down for the count but I am also optimistic of being up and around soon. Only time will tell. My dr says he can't do any lipo b/c with the breast lift, aug, and full tt that it will take over 6 hrs as it is. He can't do any more safely in the same day. (besides the juvederm in the mouth area) I've gone back & forth about if I should change out procedures but I can't say I don't need one more than another so something would be waiting anyway. He thinks the breast lift will help a little, I hope so. I was worried about having a foreign object in me but from what research I've done the saline seem very safe. So you are having the full tt & lipo? Not the breast lift? Maybe that is why they can do the lipo too.

I understand now! 6 hours is quite awhile... mine will take about 5 hours total. Good thing we won't know anything... just go to sleep and wake right back up...lol! I'd like to get more PS later one too, I eventually want a neck lift and maybe a mini face lift. I almost opted to get my upper thighs lipo'd this time but hubby doesn't want me to because he fears my legs will be too skinny. I've been walking/jogging around the track and trying to do butt exercises to get firmed up back there but that will take time. I had implants about 8 yrs ago and they still look good so no lift for me. I had small saggy boobs before so I had size D implants and I love them!
November 11, 2014
So you have no issues with running with the implants? I am so ready to just be done already. I know I will probably regret lol. I am just really ready. Are you having the experil or pain pump? I'm supposed to have experil, probably no pain pump but no guarantee.

nope! and I've been rough with mine...lol. I like to sleep on top of my husband sometimes, we lay together in our recliner watching movies and we fall asleep like that. I'm kind of sideways on top, like my head is laying on his chest and my body goes to the side of him, so my full chest weight is pressing on my boobs against my hubby. I've done this many times and never had any problems.

That is good to hear!

yeah I think they're pretty tough to pop. Mine came with a 10 yr warranty, if they pop or leak in the 10yrs my Dr replaces them free, I just have to pay for the anesthesia and OR fees. I've heard a lot of Dr's do the warranty, you should ask about it!

Only a few more days until you are on the flat side! Best of luck to you.
