My nose has always been a bone of contention for...

My nose has always been a bone of contention for me since I was 13, and my mother promised that for my 21st she'd pay for the operation, if I still felt insecure, and it hadn't 'grown into itself.' 8 years on, and in the midst of a recession, my mum simply couldn't afford the treatment and fresh out of university myself, I could hardly afford more than pot noodle, let alone cough up £6,000. Over time as I started saving, I visited some surgeons on Harley Street, who were very abrupt and insisted on doing hundred of amendments to my nose - all at any added cost. I resisted, again based on an quotes around the £6,400 mark. A few years later, I began my research again and believe you me, I scoured the entire web. Adam's clinic in Wroclaw Poland had just incredible reviews, I couldn't really believe it. However, after joining the Facebook group, seeing the before and after shots, watching the Youtube videos, reading the testimonials in OK and HEAT magazine asking the hundreds of thousands of questions I needed to, I started believing that I really might have found a gem.

I booked my flights and accommodation suggested by the London liaison team and confirmed my surgery date, which Adam was really amenable to. I flew with Ryanair from Stansted and was picked up from the airport from Chris the taxi driver employed by clinic, who took me to the clinic for my consultation and surgery, free of charge.

At this point I was terrified, but knew that I could opt out at any minute, without having to pay the costs of the operation (no deposits are paid before your consultation on the day). Meeting Adam in the flesh was really reassuring. He does his best to make you feel at ease and to really listen to what you want. Within a few hours I was in theatre, and then when I woke up, I stayed in the surgery all night, with a nurse that checked on me every few hours, and brought me breakfast in the morning. I looked horrendous with my cast on, and all my bruising, but felt positive that everything had gone really well, so far.

From then onwards I stayed in the 28a/5 Bialowieska apartment, five minutes walk from the surgery for £30 a night - this again was arranged by the surgery. The hosts were so so lovely and I was happy to be kitted out with a decent kitchen and wifi connection - what more could I need. For the first few nights there were two other surgery-goers in the other rooms, which I actually really liked, because it meant that we were able to share our experiences together, and I didn't feel completely isolated.

Every day I went to the clinic to have my dressings cleaned, to speak to the Psychologist they arrange you to see, and ultimately to have my cast and stitches off and out. I really found it helpful going in and seeing the same wounded troops every morning, and joking about all the same surgery related gripes, such as sleeplessness and extreme congestion. What I would like to mention is that I experienced NO PAIN, at all over the course of the weeks after surgery. Not once. I read this in another review, and figured they were lying but I can honestly admit that congestion will be your biggest ailment, when your dealt with by Adam.

Only 4 days post op, and I'm already really happy with the nose. I will update you in a few weeks when further swelling has subsided. Two things are for sure though, I would totally recommend the clinic and also the apartment I stayed in.

Adam had the most incredible bedside manner. He didn't beat around the bush, when explaining the risks/ side affects either. I hear that the other surgeon, Marta, is also really talented. My only slight complaint is that because you cannot directly contact Adam prior to surgery (as I'm sure he would be bombarded with repetitive queries), I had to rely on the London liaison team to answer all of my questions, and I suppose they weren't quite as knowledgeable.
