Look Ten Years Younger: Having a Face and Neck Lift Done by Titus Adams
If you are thinking about having a lower face and neck lift, then I would recommend Titus Adams at the Manor Hospital, Oxford. He is an excellent plastic surgeon and he did a wonderful operation on me, smoothing away the 'crepey' texture of the skin on my neck, removing my double chin and tightening my jawline. I look very natural ( the scars are virtually invisible, especially with a little make-up) and I also look like I did ten years ago! Yay! I am truly happy with the results, and I feel very confident. Mr Adams went through exactly what to expect before performing the procedure, and it is very important to listen and take in what he tells you and to plan ahead. (My particular procedure also involved a small scar under my chin.) He told me it might take up 6 to 8 weeks to recover almost fully, so I planned my procedure for the start of the long summer holidays in order to be back at work in September. About three days after the operation, he said my face would swell up and it certainly did. I wore a facial compression garment for the first week, moving from a larger size to a smaller one. Wearing it hurt a lot initially as it squashed my poor ears, but when I cut ear holes in it, that made it much better, and I slept propped up and took Syndol painkillers as directed on the packet, which worked well. I alternated two Nexcare thinsulate ice packs (avoid frozen peas as they burst and alarm husbands!). They were great as the iciness felt lovely. You will not want to go out during that first week (trust me!) so having someone with you for at least part of the day to bring you food and to reassure and spoil you is really nice. I had bruises but they faded quickly. I also felt my face was very 'tight' and it was hard to turn my head, but this is always to be expected with face and neck lifts - it is completely normal to feel 'over-tightened' and it will fade over a few weeks. It is also normal to feel a little 'lumpiness' in your neck. I couldn't see any lumpiness in mine, but I could feel it. That has improved with time. You will also probably feel some numbness in front of your ears as the nerves have been cut. As they heal, it feels a bit tingly - as if someone invisible is gently stroking your face. It has all been worth it though, so you should go ahead. Mr Adams is a genius.
