Plasma Pen Scarring

10 weeks post procedure

I am not almost at 10 weeks, I’ve been told total healing takes 12 weeks. I still have little small pinkish dots on my head. I’ve taken serious care of it by using the factor 5 daily, SPF 50, moisturizer, vitamin C, and not letting the sun hit it directly. I have also seek a top Dermatoligist who was very concerned with beliefs that this may not properly heal. Very devastating news to hear as a young adult and esthetician. My hope is for full recovery.

I am now***
Did you ever heal from this? If so how? Thanks! I’m in the same boat, but also with pink tender skin still at 5 weeks post.
So sorry ,, Does you’re doctor give you any other options,,??
If you put any creams on it while carbon crusts are still attached it is a BIG no-no and will result in pink dots that can last months. I have my clients spray colloidal silver twice a day until the carbon crust have naturally fallen off. After that special soap, argan oil, and sunscreen for 3 months. Sunscreen 6 months.
ORIGINAL POST

Plasma Pen Scarring

I had the plasma pen treatment done May 15, 2019 as a student for another student. Our training was extremely short and definitely not the proper training we should have had for this devise. Furthermore, the student who did mine was very inexperienced, possibly held the devise there too long and even put it on my skin as I have a video of her doing it and my skin lifts! After the treatment was absolutely horrible! I was in so much pain for two days I could not sleep, then I went into panic anxiety mode because my head was so swollen and bruised. The instructor who gave us this training did not give proper aftercare instructions so the first two days I was not using stem cell serum or moisturizer. When told by a different student on how to properly care for us when I started the factor 5, moisturizer and SPF. The dots eventually fell off 5-6 days later but it was very red/pink underneath. I am now three weeks post treatment and my dots are still very much there pinkish/red. After the treatment you can see actually holes in my skin. I just want to know what can I do to fix this?! Please I don’t want these dots on my face anymore!

Indeed looks like the pen went too deep and it was possibly a cheap pen as well. This treatment must be administered by a properly trained therapist and aftercare is an important part of the treatment
Yes, I believe that’s what happened also. I think she may have also held it too long also.
I talked to my plastic surgeon about that pen and he won't do it. He said there are so many variables to this procedure. How deep it goes, how close together the dots are, etc. The recovery time is so long too. I would wait it out another month and go to a dermatologist and see if they can help you with scarring. I'm sure lasering will get rid of any scarring.
Yes, I have went to a top Dermatoligist in my area and also going to see my plastic surgeon as well. The dots are still there sadly. Not as bad but they are present.
How many hours was your training and which plasma pen did you use? Was the pen part of your training package or paid separately?
The training was suppose to be an all day class, but unfortunately I did not get what I paid for and only got maybe a one hour training. This was suppose to be part of an advanced training I was taking and paid good money for. Did not get my money’s worth and possibly got permanent damage.
I received excellent training and certification through a company based in the U.K. but I don't think we can mention the branded name in these posts (?) I would purchase Factor Five serum and use it twice daily with nothing else but a good broad spectrum sunscreen. I would wait the full 12 weeks for proper healing. If the divets remain I would find a very qualified Microneedle provider in a plastic surgeons or derms office and have microneedling with PRP, several treatments one month apart. Done properly, this will correct your skin. I'm sorry for your outcome. I work in a plastic surgery practice and done properly this is an excellent treatment but in untrained hands can bring undesirable results.
Thank you so much! I only have about two weeks left of healing and the divots are still there. The plasma pen that was used is a company out of the U.K. The trainings the normally do are generally great, I just sadly did not get the proper training that was promised. I am hoping this will somehow be resolved. Again, thank you so much for your input and suggestions I will definitely be looking into that.
Agreed - with the proper training, this tx is awesome, but it’s not for beginners. Unfortunately, we take this risk in our industry when we are training for new devices. There’s always a risk of an adverse, and you’re a high risk skin tone for heat treatments. I think you’re right in your assumption she held them there wayyyyyyy too long, those holes are huge. Do light chem peels and hydroquinone or a tyronaise inhibitor. Keep protecting it from the sun although that’s going to be easier going into winter. Hang in there, it will get better.
