Second Round of Treatmenr
I had the second round of zaps done yesterday. It was not as painful as the first time. Only about 1/3 of the hairs ever grew back so there was less to zap. There were a couple of zaps that hurt worse than the others but it was over in about 5 minutes and then there was no more pain. I wish I had done this years ago.
13 days later
It has been 13 days since my first round of treatment. I was expecting some sort of mass shedding around day 10 but that did not happen. Instead, all the brown hairs have fallen out and now I'm left with just a bit of blonde hair like on my forearm. I have not experienced any itching or pain. I road my bicycle for 1.5 hours yesterday and it was wonderful to have no fear of ingrown hair pain during a long ride! I am scheduled to go back to Ideal Image in 6 weeks for round 2. Looking at the treated area today, I am glad I signed up for this.

BEWARE THERE IS A LOT OF DETAIL HERE BUT I'M PROVIDING INFO THAT I THOUGHT MIGHT BE HELPFUL...
I went to Ideel Image today after researching them and laser hair removal for awhile. I had a 30 minute consultation about my health and the options for what I wanted. I chose to get the full bikini and peri anal "area" treated with laser hair removal This includes ALL areas that would be covered by a bikini bottom--front, back, inside labia, inside butt crack, around anus, everything. They are having a special right now where you get 50% off the first treatment area, 60% off the second and 70% off the third. I considered getting my underarms done but just decided to go with the bikini/Brazilian area. The cost after the 50% off was about $3200 and I paid half of that today and the other half is due when I come back for my second treatment.
I have dark blonde hair (on my head), fair skin and green eyes. If I the hair on my legs was a darker color, I would get it treated but as my leg hair is almost clear in color I am not a good candidate for laser hair removal on my legs. I don't care that much (sale price to treat my underarm area was $1400) about having to shave my underarms, so I just opted to the full bikini.
After I signed all the papers and had my interview with the nurse (or perhaps she was a PA), they were ready for me to have my first appointment for hair removal treatment. I was anxious. I don't like being in pain, I don't like getting naked in front of strangers and I especially don't like getting naked in front of a stranger and spreading my legs so that they can inflict pain upon me.
The nurse that performed the treatment was WONDERFUL. She came in and talked to me then left while I got undressed. She shaved my hair to make it pretty short and then she went to work. The 'zaps' of the laser hurt more in areas where the hair is darker and more dense. In areas where the hair is not dense (like where the leg meets the body) the laser 'zap' actually feels cold. She deftly and quickly zapped me and moved my 'parts' around as needed while I laid on my back in a dentist style chair until we were done with the front. Then she had me flip over to lie on my stomach while she gently and deftly spread my cheeks so she could zap the areas in the back.
The pain was not that bad. It was not pleasant but I gritted my teeth and just handled it. I've had a Brazilian bikini wax and that pain was MUCH worse. I had my eyebrows waxed 2 days ago and that pain was worse. There is a little burnt hair smell but truly, the whole process goes by quickly and I don't think I'll ever used numbing cream. Most of the pain was psychological in the form of anxiety/anticipation before the actual zapping started. I also get IPL photo facials on my face to take away freckles and that hurts more than this did. This pain was tolerable and only lasted during the zap then went away seconds later.
Until today, I did not know that I have a mixture of brown and blonde hairs 'down there'. The nurse said the brown ones will go away but the lighter blonde ones won't. I'm actually ok with the idea of having SOME hair left, just blonde hair and much less dense.
Once the zapping was done, the nurse asked how I was and gave me aloe to put on the areas that had been zapped. The skin was a little pink but not too bad. As I applied the aloe with cotton swabs, hairs were coming off. They said hair likely won't come out for a few days but maybe mine will fall out more quickly.
