A little nervous about my surgery date (coming up in 4 days). I am please to say that I have lost 16 pounds in the last 10 days on my pre-op diet. That is very encouraging. I have been overweight from the time I had my first son at 19. He is now 23 and I have to get my weight under control. I want to get off of my cholesterol and high blood pressure medications. I want a healthy, happy life with my wonderful husband, kids, and grandchildren! I had the lap band done in 2005 with very little results, and many complications. I am having the lap band removed and have opted for the sleeve.

Hope everything went well with your surgery. I had the sleeve done a year ago and lost 70+ pounds. I wear a size 4! Went from 13 medications to 2! Do what your doctors tell you and you will be fine. It will change your life. Congratulations!

Surgery went well! So far I have lost 21.6 since I started my pre op diet. I am a week out from surgery and only lost 3.8 last week. Is that normal? I am so afraid that I will be that person that cannot drop the weight no matter what. Of course some of that fear may be from having a lap band for 10 years and not losing weight.

One Week Post Op

Well I am one week out. Last week was not as bad as I expected. I was in pain, but it was managed very well with my meds. I am back at work this week and have heard several comments that I already look thinner. I am sure that is not true-but it sure felt great to hear! I am down 21.6 since I started my pre-op diet on July 6th. I am a little concerned that I only lost 3.8 pounds last week. I am hoping that is because my body was a little scared after the trauma-ha! I will get some pictures loaded for my pre-surgery and post-surgery soon. Thanks for everyone's support!

Two Weeks Post Op

I had my two week checkup with my doctor. I am down 25 pounds, am off all of my medications (high blood pressure and cholesterol), and beginning to feel much better. I talked to the doctor about how slowly the weight seems to be coming off. I found out that I am exactly where I should be. Apparently when you have the lap band removed the gastritis causes a slow down on the weight loss until it clears up. I was pleased to hear that! I have been cleared to work out on my elliptical (no incline, but at least working out). I live in Texas and it has been too hot to take walks outside for the last couple of weeks. I walk laps inside at work, but I don't like to distract my co-workers so I have kept it at a minimum. I have no pain from any of the incisions and everything has healed nicely. I figure if I continue to lose 3 pounds a week I will be down another 63 pounds by Christmas-or a total of 88 pounds. I cannot wait-I am so tired of being overweight. This has been a wonderful decision.
