Searching for the Right Doctor is Key... - Plainfield, IL

I always say go with your gut, and this has proven to be true when searching for the right doctor. I initially had a consultation with Dr. Anil Shah in Chicago, and to put it kindly he wasn't my favorite. After waiting an hour and a half, I finally walked out of the appointment and asked them to email me the information as I was out of time. That wasn't the basis for my decision however; I've had a breast augmentation and after having a wonderful experience with my doctor (dr. Gutowski in Northbrook) I feel like my expectations were high for how I was going to be treated. The difference between Dr. Anil Shah and Dr. Gutowski, is Dr. Gutowski walked into my appointment and asked me about myself, such as why are you here and what are you looking for? Dr. Shah walked in and started looking at my nose right away, he not once asked me what I didn't like or what my concerns were. That was alarming to me and I was less than impressed. After doing more reasearch and finding multiple mixed reviews, my gut told me NO despite the appealing price tag.
What I found in my search is that I need an ENT (Ear, nose and throat dr), a doctor with at least ten years experience, and a doctor who has performed at least 8 thousand surgeries. I have a deviated septum and am wanting rhinoplasty as well, which is called rhinoplasty in conjunction with septoplasty (didn't know!). My search brought me to Dr. Neena Will in Plainfield, I had my consultation with her today and felt comfortable with her immediately. I emailed Dr Will's office on Saturday night around midnight, and had an answer on Sunday morning. I thought that's strange, they must have a receptionist answering emails on the weekend. It turned out that Dr. Will was answering all of my questions through email, which I must say was impressive. Dr. Will has 12 years experience, is an ENT and specializes in facial plastic surgery, and has done thousands of surgeries. Needless to say, I've found my Dr. and will be posting more as I have more appointments :)

I completely agree. I got the same feeling from Shah. He just gave a bad vibe. He did the same thing with me - I walked in and he began examining my nose right away. I mean I understand, they're short on time and have a lot of patients to see. But, I feel like the polite thing to do was to ask the patient first. I don't know, Lala Mamma lol. You're making me reconsider. I planned on sticking with him because I guess him and his staff read my review on here and apologized for their behavior and if they didn't answer any questions I previously had. And the price is so low because mine would be an in-office procedure. I can't really afford any other doctor because everywhere else seems to be 3,500 and up. :/

I don't want to make anyone nervous, just share my experience. I received an apology as well because I sent an email to the patient coordinator explaining why I wasn't choosing Shah, which is everything I wrote here. I wanted that "Oo I'm so excited, I feel like I'm in good hands" feeling, and I just didn't get that with Shah. I also searched other review sights besides this one, which is where I saw some pretty sketchy reviews. I realize you have to take all reviews with a grain of salt, but I personally don't want to gamble with something like my face lol. What procedure are you having that is in office? I think suburb doctors are much more reasonably priced.

Yes, I agree. And some of the reviews sounded fake. And like where in the suburbs? I am getting a Rhinoplasty done as well. But only getting a conservative change. Thats why he said the procedure can be done in-office. I didnt need to go to the operating room. What do you think? I mean he seems to know what hes talking about. Its just in the manner in which they spoke with me, makes me a little hesitant. I went to another doctor and he basically suggested the same thing for my nose. Except his price was 3,500 dollars. And i dont got that kinda money lol. So i dont know...

Well maybe if it's something that simple, it would turn out fine! The dr I found is in Plainfield, I'm having reconstructive rhino so it's not so simple. For me, the reviews changed my mind because I'm nervous about the procedure so I just want to feel completely comfortable with who's performing it.

I'm glad you found your surgeon. And yes, but now I'm really having doubts. I'm finally ready to select a date and the lady who runs their e-mail said she'll let me know about transportation to my hotel. Since I haven't told anyone about my decision to get rhinoplasty, I need someone from the office to accompany me to my nearby hotel. She said she will find out for me "today," and that was the 22nd and she hasn't gotten back to me yet and it's been four days. Sighhh. What to do. I just e-mailed her again. But had I not, I feel like she would've never gotten back to me. Very unprofessional, I must say. :/ I don't know. I feel like I'm making a big mistake.

Hello! How did your procedure go??
October 30, 2014
It went great! I had my procedure done on the 9th. Had barely any pain at all. So far, I'm happy with what the front looks like but I'm not sure about the profile. I feel like ny bridge looks lower for some reason. But still letting everything settle and heal before I make any judgements. I also feel like he should've reduced my nostrils. But he said he can always go back to those later. I'm glad your procedure went well! :) Hope your recovery goes well.

I had my procedure done yesterday with doctor Neena Will! I had septoplasty in conjunction with rhinoplasty, and juvaderm ultra plus injected into my lips & cheeks. So far, I'm obsessed with my lips! The cheeks aren't that noticeable, but I think that's due to the swelling in my face from the rhino. I had a great experience with Dr. Will, I woke up in some pain, but haven't had any since!! It's hard to breathe through your mouth only, it's so dry. But rhinoplasty was not nearly as horrible as o expected it to be. Actually, I'm not even on any Vicodin, just Tylenol 3. Will keep posting as more results come through!
