WORTH IT$6,000
I am 54 yrs. old, 155 lbs, measure 33" under the bust, I wear a 38I minimizer bra. I would love to buy clothes off the rack, a swimsuit that fits... you get the picture.
Last October I was just making the bed and I got upper back spasms so bad I ended up laying in the bed. That was it, I made the decision after living with massive breasts my whole life I wanted to be normal for the 1st time since puberty.
I talked to my doctor, got several recommendations, then I started researching the doctors. I decided on Dr. Tripti Burt after reading nothing but positive reviews. The insurance approval took 5 weeks. I am relieved it happened so quickly.
I just scheduled my surgery for 3/3. I am such a combination of happy, nervous and scared. I have been reading the detailed blogs from the other women who are having/have had BR. THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to share their journey. It is helping me tremendously. I have so many questions. Here is an easy one to start.
Should I buy surgical bra before my procedure? What brand is the most comfortable? How many should I buy?

Next step on my journey.. Getting ready for my surgery
I am trying to mentally get ready for the surgery. Reading all I can. Making lists. I even printed out 3 pictures of before and after to show my surgeon. I think it will be easier to show her what I would like to look like after the BR. This way she can let me know what is a reasonable outcome for me. My preop apt is scheduled for 2/10.

I didnt want to spend a fortune on bras so I looked on Amazon.com the one I like the best is a danskin front zip sports bra. It has a wider band that is comfortable. That's going to be important because of the stitches underneath. They do have several mastectomy bras that were specifically designed for surgery. The wider the band the better. Also, I used padding under the band to keep down rubbing. Hope this helps.

Went shopping
I couldn't resist, yesterday I went shopping and had to look at all the pretty bras. I've been shopping out of a catalog for 20 yrs. www.JMS.com it's the only place I can find a 38I minimizer bra. I can't wait to be able to buy my 1st matching bra and panty set, something silly, lacy, bright and pretty.

Hi!!! Welcome to this community!!! :)) Congrats on your decision for a BR! It's already the best thing I've ever done for myself, and I haven't even really gotten to "enjoy" them yet, lol. I haven't been to the gym yet, or gotten to wear a bathing suit yet, but I don't have back pain anymore!!! It's such an awesome feeling! I want everyone to feel as great as I do!!! YAY!!!!! Looking forward to following your journey :))

Thank you. Just think you will be able to buy your bathing suit from a store in a normal size, not out of an oversize only catalog. Congratulations!

I purchased a Marena compression vest before my BR and it is very comfortable. Easy to size too. Best of luck!
