9 months in...

I feel so ALIVE! How awesome to be able to do things with my family and friends and not be short of breath or feel like a big sweaty mess.
I'm down 110 pounds and still have some to go to reach my goal. Slow and steady. Changing a lifetime of habits was difficult; I am glad I started a few months before my surgery so it wasn't such an adjustment. One of the biggest challenges continues to be not having liquids before and after my meal.
I now make play dates with friends instead of dinner plans. Next week we're all meeting for a ceramics class! They can take their wine and snacks, but our focus will not be on food.
My surgeon Dr. Akselherli and his support system that's in place has been simply amazing.

3 months post op

Feeling wonderful! I'm down to 200. While I wanted my weight to be less, I'm definitely smaller and getting more toned. Ready to purchase another set of work scrubs in the next size down because I can't tie them any tighter.
Can definitely see where my emotional eating was out of control. I've been doing yoga (which I still say is a 4 letter word!) or Leslie Sansone's Walking Away the Pounds when I feel compelled to eat. Water is my friend but it has been challenging to not gulp it. I count to 2 and that's it for my sip.
Looking forward to nicer weather to walk outside more and spend less time at the gym.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

2 week post-op

It's been 2 weeks since my gastric sleeve surgery. I've lost 14 lbs since then.
My follow-up appointments with my PCP and the surgeon are tomorrow. I'm eagerly awaiting approval to step up my exercise game. It's too cold to walk outside, and too boring to go slow on the treadmill at the gym.
One of my biggest issues has been that I want something savory, not sweet. Broth isn't cutting it. I put broth, baby food spinach, and a teaspoon of cooked hamburger in the nutribullet today with some spices. It tasted like a filet! Haha.
Any suggestions you can share?

Provider Review

Dr. Tunc Aksehirli

Love my surgeon and his staff. The nurse, tech, and dietician have been encouraging, helpful and understanding.
