Im ready for smaller breasts!!! I am 5"3 and weigh 145, I have always been big chested all my life since I was 13! I currently wear a 36D but this bra is too small! I was told I am bigger, like a DD! I have severe back pain due to arthitis in back and spine plus nerve damage in legs! The weight of my breasts weigh me down so much I can't hardly do nothing in my daily life. I can't exercise much and when I go to a store, I can't walk too long due to back pain and neck pain. I have a curve In my back due to the weight of my big breasts, I wasn't aware of this until I went to physcial therapy for 8 weeks. They helped me a lot with exercises and with my pain. I have to sleep with a heating pad and use a tens unit when I hurt in my back and legs. I pray this surgery will change my life! I'm excited!!

Your feelings are all normal. The only thing I did before was shop for bras. I struggled trying to shop post op. I bought so many bras that were not comfortable. I like the Champion zipper front sports bra for travel and daytime use. Runs small. My favorite and the one I sleep in and use for special occasions is the Barely there reversible wireless pullover comfort flex. Looks good under clothes and comes in lots of colors. Runs true to size. I get in on easy by stepping into it and then gently pulling up. Beware of the bras with seams and removable pads cause the seams on the sides and front that hurt incisions. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy. Uneventful recovery!!!I

Thanks very much for the support! I will get a zip up sports bra, like a medium prob. I'm still trying to find shirts to wear after the surgery.

Your very welcome Just get cheap button up shirts. Don't need a lot. For sleep clothes. Button or zip front. Walmarts has clearance racks. I bought tops that were mismatched under 5.00 each. Loose bottoms are ok that easily go over your hips. No tugging or fighting with clothes. Loose sweat pants for doctor visits. Pillow for seat belts. I cheat and put the shoulder strap behind me. So bad but i cant tolerate the strap on my breasts. Just trying to think of things I wished I knew before.

Im feeling and looking great!! I look in the mirror and still can't believe what I see. I can't wait to wear halter tops in the summer. I could never wear them. My incisions are paper taped. I change tape weekly. Healing nicely. Thanks

Ok thanks for tips! I will get some button up shirts at walmart plus I have bottoms and zip up hoodies. I read that about a pillow for seat belt, need that for visit on way home. I'm going to try to stay in hospital over night since I will be traveling 3 hours. I bet you can't wait to wear a halter top this summer, I know the feeling. I can't find nothing to fit me at all.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
You bet. I love halters. Bought some already. Lol Actually the hospital is a dangerous place. Meaning it is full of germs. If your doctor put you out don't fight it. You will have less of a chance of getting a hospital acquired infection and they are ugly. But if he wants you to stay then its for a valid reason.

User Avatar

PS does quick exam. Mostly give you pre op intructions. Prescriptions to fill before surgery like pain meds and antibiotics. Maybe a pamplet from surgical center. Answer any questions you have so make your list.
User Avatar
November 10, 2014
Ok thanks for the info, I'm nervous! Do you still have any pain?
User Avatar
November 10, 2014
No. I never really had pain. I had discomfort. Week 2-31/2 was the worse discomfort due to increase in swelling. So not long for that becAuse that started subsiding fairly quickly.
User Avatar
November 10, 2014
That's good! Did you change the bandages yourself after so many days? I read you do. I will ask all that when I go Friday. It will be weird seeing myself with smaller breasts lol. I won't know how to act. I hope I won't have the tubes.
User Avatar
November 11, 2014
Lol. I know. I cant wait for the summer. I had bandages on for one week. The nurse took them off at one week and then i just wore a bra. The next week i saw the PS and started the paper tape. No tubes and no stitches to remove.
User Avatar
November 11, 2014
Oh ok you must of had the dissolvable stitches. And you put the paper tape on yourself ? Sorry for the crazy questions, I just didn't know. Thanks!

Best thing I ever did!!! My neck, shoulder and back pain were gone immediately after surgery. I am 4 weeks post op and doing well. My advise is to follow instructions of your PS, eat a well balanced diet, limit salt intake to help with swelling and no lifting to prevent stress on your sutures. I did high protein boost for healing. Drink lots of water. You will do great and the results will be life changing!!!!
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
I'm glad your neck, shoulder and back pain are gone! That is a blessing! I will def watch my diet and heal up good. I go next Friday for my preop.

Great. Ask about Arnica Montana before and after surgery. I had no bruising, swelling, and minimal pain that I conrolled with ibuprofen.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Oops .. Minimal swelling. Always have swelling after surgery To tell the truth my swelling peaked after 3 weeks. When I got to a little over 3 weeks the swelling started subsided. In other words you may have more swelling and discomfort at 2-3 weeks then right after surgery. You start doing more and your body is doing what its suppose to do. So be patient with the healing process and you will be fine
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Lol that's weird, I actually starting taking Arnica Montana yesterday so it will get in my system. So it did help you ?
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Yes.!! Are you taking it three times a day? Make sure your also doing mulivitamins.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Yeah I will be patient with the swelling and the results after the surgery. I am taking them 3 times a day (4 tablets). I am not taking a multivitamin, I have tried in the past and they made feel sick for some reason.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
You and me both. The only ones i can tolerate are Alive gummies. For some reason they don't upset my stomach. Just thought about. My doctor had me take Emend three hours before surgery and I didn't. have nausea. Dag on pill cost 50.00 but it was worth it. They can also give med in your IV if you get nauseous with narcotics. I always let them know.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Also I get my vitamin C for healing from Emergen C . Fresh pineapple are good for brusing.
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Ok thanks! Do you eat the pineapple after for healing?
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Your welcome. Actually surgeons have told patients to start before surgery. I forgot. What date is your surgery?
User Avatar
November 7, 2014
Bromelain -- also called bromelin -- is an enzyme. It occurs naturally in pineapple. As a supplement, it's often used to ease pain and swelling. Why do people take bromelain? Bromelain seems to reduce inflammation. You can also just buy bromelain. Its natural and safe. You can make your list and discuss at your preop.
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
Nov 20 is the date
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
I will check into that! Are you taking that?
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
Im 4 weeks post op so my swelling already peaked but I do eat pineapples. I like them :)
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
How are you now you are 4 weeks post op? Are you happy with your results? I tried to look for your pics, I can't find them.
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
I haven't posted pics. I am doing very well. Everyday I feel more comfortable. Everything improved drastically once the swelling peaked at a little past 3 weeks. I have a bra system down now. I wear one bra for car rides and the others in the house. Finding bras that were comfortable was the hardest part. I love my new breasts. Couldn't be more satisfied. So life changing that i am mentally planning my tummy tuck and flankplasty.
User Avatar
November 8, 2014
That's great to hear! I will learn about new bras and stuff as I go. I wasn't going to post pics but I thought what the heck, lol. Good luck on tummy tuck and flankplasty, I hope it goes good as well! I will eat pineapples after surgery also.

User Avatar
November 9, 2014
Loll well hopefully you can save up enough money for that one day. how often did you change your bandages? I don't really know much about that.
User Avatar
November 12, 2014
I am only 8 days out but it really is the best decision! I have not noticed any pain in my neck and shoulders. I didn't react well to pain killers so I have been on Tylenol since day 3 and it has been manageable. You will do great! Good luck! This will change so much for the better.
User Avatar

I fell really good. Just minor discomfort at the incision sites but I don't even need ibuprofen. I'm still sleeping in a recliner, I'm a stomach sleeper, so I am not sleeping super well but small price to pay. I am really happy I did this. I was so scared and it was such a waste of energy to be scared. Wish I would have done this sooner. You will do great! I can't wait to read your updates!
User Avatar
November 12, 2014
That's good you are doing good. I don't have a recliner so I will have to make myself sleep on my back lol. I wish I decided to do this earlier also but I was scared to go talk to a dr to start the process but since I waited forever you see where it got me. I go Friday for preop so I'll post new updates.

This is new update!! I am kinda down in the dumps about it ????

User Avatar

Well I went for my preop and originally back in Aug when I first went for a consultation, I met with a different surgeon, Valenzuela. He recently got fired and I met with surgeon Ball yesterday instead that took over his practice. I felt so much better with him than other dr. He spent an hour with us talking about the procedure, joking around with us and he is very knowledgable. My surgery now is Jan 8! I about cried because I planned this for 3 months but the good Lord worked it out where I had this better surgeon instead of one that double booked appointments. I found out the old surgeon had me down last the day of my original surgery and get this, he was doing 6 surgeries before me!!! Dr Ball said that was very unprofessional of him to book all these surgeries for how long they take and I happen to be last. I am thankful The Lord worked it out for me to have a better skilled surgeon that takes time with patients and does not book appointments like that. When I go for mine Jan 8, I am the last one but he has small procedures before me so he won't be tired and in a hurry. I can't believe that other dr did people that way, who knows what shape I would of been in. I am sad but again I have to think I am in better hands with dr Ball. He is so down to earth and came from Maryland.

That's so bad! I cancelled my unprofessional surgeon and everything to do with his company 2 years ago. Better to wait than rush into trouble. January, not far! Xx
User Avatar
November 15, 2014
Thanks and I couldn't blame you for canceling either. I really think the good Lord helps us all in ways we don't understand. I feel better with this surgeon than the one that got fired. How are you doing?
User Avatar
November 16, 2014
Better honey! Was quite swollen after laying on my sides in constipation pain yesterday but back upright now and healing ok
User Avatar
November 15, 2014
Wow. What a turn of events!! That other doctor sounded like bad news. You seem to feel comfortable with Dr Ball. I am assuming he is board certified. Sorry you have to wait till Jan but at least you will be not post op for the holiday season. Who recommeded the first doctor?
User Avatar
November 15, 2014
Yeah it was a crazy turn of events! Yes he is board certified which is great! A couple ppl I knew recommended the first surgeon and when I first went I felt uncomfortable, he was rude to me because he misunderstood my question but I put him in his place lol. I can't believe he would do all these surmise like that.

We are all in this together. You feel like you are not alone. I wish I knew about it before my surgery but I will be better prepared next time.., lol I wish we could meet for coffee but I am here if you need me. Just take care of yourself and you are going to get through with flying colors.
User Avatar
November 16, 2014
Yeah it will be fine, he explained things in so much detail compared to the other surgeon, I feel better about it, not as nervous. It won't be long till Jan so that's good! He sails he operated on women in a sit up position because your new breasts will look good and how they should be besides when laying down. I never thought of that lol but that is a great point! Where do you live at? Thanks for the support, good to have someone to talk to.
User Avatar
November 16, 2014
I think sitting up is standard I read that and asked my PS and he said he would bw sitting me up. Just funny to imagine. They do all kinds off things during surgery. I live in Baltimore. Your welcome and I enjoy having someone to communicate with. I am going crazy trying to figure out how to come up with 13,000. I keep imaging how I would look after the TT and Flankplasty. I have to get creative. :)
November 16, 2014
I had TT with my breast reduction. Insurance paid for reduction. I used credit care for TT. I think it's about 18 months interest free. I don't know interest rate after that. They obviously charge slit more in Baltimore than Va Beach. I traveled there from Richmond because it was soooo much cheaper and I adore the PS recommended by a friend. My TT was a problem because I had so much scar tissue from 2 C sections, gall bladder removal and hysterectomy. Long story. Long story but I'm good now and very lucky scar tissue didn't invade my intestines! Anyway, you can apply for Credit Care online. Good luck.
User Avatar
November 16, 2014
Thank you for advise and support. I am happy you are good now and I assume you are pleased with the results. I will try care credit and hope the approve a large amount. Hopefully I can save enough to make a dent in what I have to borrow.

November 18, 2014
I'm doing great! Thank God all that scar tissue was removed before I had to have part of my intestines removed too. My surgeon was wonderful. I was in surgery about 2 hours longer than expected! I feel great! Thanks for your concern!
