Finally - Getting These Problem Implants out - Phoenix, AZ

UPDATED FROM Brody's Mom

Almost 4 weeks post explant

WORTH IT$3,200
Just wanted to update to say ...wow.....I can't believe it has been almost 4 weeks since I had my implants removed. Each day it gets better and better. My tissue had bounced back nicely and has filled (fluffed) so quickly that I am truly amazed. Getting them removed was the best decision that I ever made. So to anyone out there who is concerned and is thinking about having them removed, I can say I am very happy with the decision and do not regret it in the least. . I will post more pictures this week. Just heard today, the following, "Melissa Gilbert Explains Why She Got Her Breast Implants Removed". Google it and know that you are not alone in your decision.

So far so good. Fingers crossed it all goes well with healing etc., . At this moment I can say that Dr. Meger and his staff have been great. EVERYONE from the office manager (Jovita) to the RNs in the surgical ward to Dr. Meger himself. I hope to be able to continue to give them 5 stars as I progress in my healing.

What a great report! Glad you're doing well. Blessings!
Thank you! Feeling better and better every day......so thankful to be back to natural. it's funny because when I see women now with these huge implants, I actually feel sorry for them for the issues that they have or will have and feel very blessed to have made the decision and had a great healing process. Take care!
I get my implants out Monday jan 12. I hope I do as well as you.
You will....seriously. The body has such a wonderful way of healing and sometimes it takes a little time but tissue knows where it is suppose to be and just heals. I am so glad I did it and interestingly was told by one physician that I DID NOT use that by taking the implants out, my breast would look like a pair of empty socks....so NOT TRUE. I dont know if some say that to scare us but at that point, I said I didn't care what they looked like. The physician who took them out did not make any bad comments, he just did what I asked him to do and they are very full and soft and just keep filling in better and better every day. You will do GREAT - so no need to worry. Just breathe and say "thank you Universe for restoring me to my perfect natural self"....she will answer. :). Keep us posted on how you do.
I absolutely agree!! I am over the moon with my explant which took place last Monday. My PS was so professional. He did what I asked & never suggested anything different. I pre bought a bunch of the smallest cup bras that are made. They were all way too small! I am thrilled & can't wait to start getting in better shape in other places! I am 67 with implants for 45 yrs! If I look good just think what younger girls will look like!
Too funny about pre-buying the smallest cup size bras......I did too and NOPE they didn't fit. What a nice surprise :). Today, I was able to fill out a 34C.....whooo hoooo :). Congrats on your explant as well.
You are an inspiration for me. I am 54 and have my under-muscle salines for 10 years. Have seen my PA (posted on this site) and am looking forward to scheduling this. Difficult to plan/get it in the schedule with so much going on at work etc, but hope to have it done by end of April. Am worried about how I'll look but hey, I think any outcome will outweigh living with these things. I'll look up the Melissa Gilbert story. Thanks for your honesty and letting us come along on your journey. Best of luck.
Hi - thank you so much.....we are close to the same age, I am 55 and who would have ever thought that these "older :) breasts" would have bounced back so well, right? I am sure that yours will as well. Melissa Gilbert is 50 years old, I think and she did it as well. Maybe we just get wiser in our old age. You will be amazed at how much better you feel. I sleep so much better now and I just don't feel so heavy in my chest. Strange....its like we know that we don't feel well with them but didn't really know how bad it was until they come out. Anyway - you will do great and the recovery is pretty easy if they are being removed through the inframammary fold. I had the twilight sleep and was up and awake with no problems that evening at home. Take care. Keep us posted.
I'm still amazed at how well yours bounced back! How long did you have implants? I'm 53 and have had mine for 15 years. Based on how you look now with all the swelling gone, so you think you will get a lift? Thanks! I'm counting down the days.
Hi Brody's mom. You look amazing. I'm praying that I get an excellent ps to do my surgery and to get results like yours. I'm really debating as to whether I should get a lift or wait on that to see how my girls look after explanting. I was wondering if you had the capsules removed? Blessings!
Hi - thank you for the kind words. No I did not have the capsules removed. My physician as well as other consults I went to said the capsules were very thin so no need to take them out and some have said that removing can potentially cause some distortion from the underlying tissue. Not sure if this is true but is what I was told by some. I am very, very happy with my results. I have had ZERO problems since my explant 4 weeks ago. My breast tissue seems to be back to normal and in fact feels like I have more now than I did before implants. I am filling out a 34C bra now.....hmmmmm. Not sure why but I am very happy. No lift was done and I think they look pretty perky for my age so no complaints from me. I tried on my bathing suit top from last year and I think it looks very filled out. I would certainly recommend explantation to anyone who asks as I feel so much better, look much better and feel like I never have to worry about those foreign bags of ick inside of me. The body has a very unique way of healing itself. And my BF said that he loves they way they feel, loves the softness and the natural feel. he used to be so focused on breasts...he does still look at other women quite a bit but now points out who he thinks has fake boobs and says he now likes the natural look and feel so much better. Regarding the lift at same time as explant.....I personally feel that it is best to take them out, let everything settle and heal and then see what you look like and how you feel in 6 months. Things can change a lot in that time period and I feel the less traumatized they are, the better chance for not having any blood supply compromised.....plus I don't know how the physician can determine just how much to lift at the time of explantation. I am 55 and did not need a lift and still don't.....mine are very perky now for my age. Let us know what you decide.....take care.

Bandages off - 48 hours post explant

Well.....today I was able to take off the ACE bandage and take a shower. So far so good. Definitely lost a lot of upper pole but am hoping that will fill in and will seriously look at fat transfer to that area. I have more lower tissue than I thought so I feel that they should be fine. I put on my compression type bra and then re-wrapped with the ACE to keep fluid from building up. I am still very, very glad to have those horrible things out. You can kind of see on the right side a pretty big indent - that is from where Dr. Flint cut my pect muscle too high and then I had to have that repaired/re-attached by another physician. It still looks icky with this huge dent but will have to live with that. Better to have that and implants out than the alternative. For those of you thinking about explanting, I say go for it........our body's heal quickly.

Wow! I think your breasts look much better now than with the implants. Congrats!!
Thank you! They just FEEL so much better. I feel lighter and more free. Just to very relieved. Thank you for the kind words
You look amazing, you have totally normal beautiful breasts.....so happy for you!!! xo
Thank you...I am just trying to stay positive and hopeful. My boyfriend Scott actually said he liked them today...surprise, surprise, sine he is a "boob" man and was the reason I got them in the first place. Oh well, I am just so happy to have them gone - now on to the healing and hopefully some fluffy in my upper pole area.
You look great xx
I think you look about a hundred times better after. I am small breasted and would die for your "after" look. It's so interesting how different people can look at the same thing and have entirely different points of view. Your explanted breasts look completely natural and unscathed. No real breasts have upper pole, well maybe if you're 20 years old, but certainly not later. I bet all you need is a push-up bra for those times when you want cleavage. Best wishes!!!
Thank you so much! I truly am glad it is over...I feel so much lighter now. I appreciate your kind words.
My explant is 1/13 : / I HOPE and PRAY my outcome will be as good as yours : )
You will do great. I just kept trying to think positively and trying to imagine some decent good tissue would be left...power of the mind maybe? So far so good. YOU will do GREAT and be so happy once it is over. I can tell you that I am sleeping more in these past few days - body probably trying to heal with extra sleep. So be prepared for that. Keep us posted on your progress.

Great physician so far.......

I used Dr. G. Robert Meger to do my explant. We agreed to keep the explantation as minimally invasive as possible. The previous physicians that used and had a surgical problem with were Dr. Patti Fint (Scottsdale) - she is the one who released the right pect muscle too high which casued additional tearing. The other physician I used to repair the cut pect muscle was Dr. Leighton. The pect muscle repair is holding somewhat so that is good but the implants were placed way too high by him, thus causing a few issues. So I am just relieved that I found Dr. Meger and he agreed to remove them. His office staff was great from start to finish and I found Dr. Meger personable and able to answer my questions. So far so good. Will keep updating on the progress.

I was so excited to see that your procedure is over so quickly! I have my first appointment in Nashville tomorrow with my PS. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I have not posted my story yet because I wanted to wait until after I see my PS and have some real facts to post. I will ask for his first available surgery date but I have already been told that it will probably be late January before he can fit me in. I am just so happy to hear that things went so smoothly for you. Please continue to let us know how everything goes for you. I can't wait to be where you are right now!! I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery! It sounds like you are doing great. Thanks for sharing your story. I can tell you, without this website I would not even know that a removal was possible. I appreciate these ladies who have shared their story more than I could ever say. Best of luck to you! I'll be watching to hear more from you!
Thanks - and you too, will feel so much better once you have your surgery. I just wanted them out so badly and the waiting was the worst part. I wished that back when I was inquiring about a lift that a physician would have at least suggested fat transfer instead of implants. I would have done that in a heartbeat rather than the implants. Seriously having 3 surgeries (this one being #3) in less than 2 years is CRAZY. Seems funny that after all the money and time healing, recuperating etc., only to end up with the same as I had when I started, is like a weird joke. Sometimes lessons need to be expensive in order to fully appreciate the need to really make a change. But now that they are out, I can heal, recuperate, and get healthy again. And that is what I am looking forward to.
Congratulations! I hope you heal well and I look forward to hearing how you're getting on in the next few weeks xx
Thank you. i will keep everyone posted as this journey continues, hopefully along with pictures ( if they wont scare anyone off). :)
So glad you are doing well!!!! Xoxo
