Badly Needed Eyelid Surgery and Brow Lift, Age 53 at the Time

WORTH IT$6,000
By the time I got this surgery, I'd lost more than 40% of my field of vision due to droopy eyelids. Four separate doctors all told me I needed the surgery. My regular eye doctor even told me that if I were first applying for my driver's license, I would flunk the vision test!
I took my time and found a doctor who primarily does this surgery, called blepharoplasty. I was in a "twilight" state the whole time, and I remember a little of it toward the end, but not really. Nothing hurt, just some tugging and, later on, swelling and tenderness. Bags of frozen peas were my best friends for a few days.
The swelling went down quickly, and after 2 weeks, I had regained my vision and I think I also look significantly younger. It took a few months until I could wear a little eye makeup again without it feeling tender. The eyelid scars are about 95% invisible -- I just have one tiny area that puckered and darkened, maybe 3-4 mm in length, but it's responding to a silicon gel I bought and slowly diminishing. I wear glasses, so honestly, you'd have to be staring pretty intently at me to notice.
The scars at the top of my forehead, where the brow was lifted, have faded to a dull white and merged with my hairline. I was cautioned to keep wearing sunhats in sunny Arizona to keep the scars from darkening. I love hats, so I'm good with that!
Insurance refused to pay despite all the doctor referrals, so I had to put this on credit cards and pay it off from savings. That was the only bad part. At $6k, it was a big bite out of my bank account, but I would do it again.
