After much research on different Doctors I finally found my guy and had my pre-op visit, took the before photos. Getting nervous about complications and pain. My iron count is low, it was 8.9 six weeks ago, I have been taking 27mg and it is only up to 9.5. I really hope I can get it to a safe surgery level so I do not have to postpone. Has anyone else gone through this?

Hello...Eat spinach, liver, beets, and go see a hematogist.

Those foods have a lot of iron in them. Hope that helps : )

Take your iron pills with orange juice.start drinking welches 100% grape juice.eat lots of iron rich food.you can bump up your HH.

Thanks.. I started to take a c vitamin with the iron because I heard it helps

you need a hematologist. you need a full set of lab work, and you need to see if there is any reason for it - rule out any underlying disorder. you do need to have your count up before surgery and stable. it is a rough road, with blood loss during surgery . start right now. good luck!

Thanks... I had gastric bypass 10 yrs ago and I have ran low since then. I did recently have a colonoscopy to rule out bleeding... Hopefully it is just because of the low absorption and I can get it up...

Hi Abby...srry i just figured out how to personally resond. Lol. Where are you having ur TT? I had mine done at Jefferson Hospital. Had lapband there as well 5yrs ago. My PS used the same meds as yours...because I too am hyper sensitive to narcotics. I was fine didnt really need them after day2. But i did stay overnight which that was a relief. Keep me posted and maybe we both can post before & afters.

Hi, Thank you so much for posting. I am nervous and it is nice to talk!! :) I will be at Bryn Mawr hospital. Had Gastric Bypass 10 yrs ago at Temple. So you used Dilaudid (spell?) was it ok? I asked about the pain pump and was thinking of doing it that way. How are you doing?
August 14, 2013
It worked well, i didnt have the pain pump but my PS did some kind of injection during surgery that was said to last a few days. Im doing well & ready to go back to work next week.

Had my TT last Thursday 8/29. everyone at the hospital was amazing. Having major groin pull type pain on the right side when I try to walk. I think it is being swollen and the drain. Cannot wait to get them out. My close up vision is blurry now too. PS said could be a combo of anti nausea patch and them taping my eyes shut during surgery. Hope that clears up soon. Had a few moments of being sad from pain, swelling and having to rely so much on others. Trying to be forward thinking about good results. Both my kids have colds now (of course) really trying to keep the germs away. Cannot imagine having to cough or blow my nose right now :0

hi abbyB! congratulations on your new body! we all feel like invalids the first few days since we need help with everything. but really it gets better noticeably daily. whatever you have to do - DO NOT GET A COLD FROM YOUR KIDS!!! if it is the exit location of the drain, maybe it needs an adjustment, then tape it into place. ask your PS if it is very painful. it should not be as bad as you describe. PS might be able to move it downward a bit, off the nerve it is hitting.

Thanks! I do think it is the inside part, hitting a tendon/nerve or something maybe.... they re coming out tomorrow (thank God) I know!!!!!! I have been spraying lysol everywhere and making them use hand sanitizer.

i meant, not the exit location of the drain. it is the internal location, i.e. the origin of it inside.
