Im scouring this site for advice and preparations...
WORTH IT$10,000
Im scouring this site for advice and preparations since surgery is 2 weeks from today. Ive taken my time from work, organized my finances on how I'm going to pay for it, gotten my husband on board (finally), and lastly I'm working on getting myself and the kids some extra help. ( My mother in law is here to do some basics but I think i will need more help with the kids..) I appreciate any advice i can find. I really do not want to rent a recliner and hoping that i can use one of those husband things on my bed.
Im getting really nervous about managing the pain and a so-so supportive husband.

Pre op done , guess I'm really doing this!
I just have to say this site has really helped prepare me for my life over the next few weeks. I'm getting nervous, really more about the gap between my expectations about my results and the way I will recover ( more the speed) and reality. I had a really painful recovery after a complicated c-section a bunch of yrs ago and worried about the pain and debility after that. I guess the difference is I had a newborn to take care of and 2 year old twins ! ( I had lots of help for them). So, I guess not as bad.
I do want to know how long do the muscle spasms go on? I'm scared of that pain.
In the process of finding a caretaker for me so I won't feel guilty asking my family to help. Cross your fingers I can find one .
Thanks again to all the people here for support!

Hi there glad you found this site-
Stay on top of your pain meds- hydrate , stay away from salt and watch your sodium they will make you swell - I had the exparel injection so I didn't have pain along the incision- I also had a c- sec and to me that was more painful . First week and half you will need help , you may think you can bounce back because you won't be in any miserable pain , but believe me do take it slow during the first week , let others help you :)
Best wishes on a smooth recovery !

I had my surgery on a Wednesday came home the next morning. My husband was home with me til Monday when he went back to work, he had to take Tuesday off to drove me to my post-op appt. and from there I was on my own. Let the house go, rest when you can, prepare meals ahead to help everyone out.
