Breast Cancer Survivor -Philadelphia, PA
Diagnosed 2011 DCIS, partial mastectomy,...
then more cancer found in tissue on left. Next ,double mastectomy w/ immediate reconstruction (diep/free flap) using abdominal fat. This was 15 hr surgery and my 4th..
I was left with one side huge and radiated side average. Told reduction not possible but
Dr. Steven Copit of Jefferson University Hospital is brilliant and achieved what I was told not possible!!!
2011 diagnosed, 2013 finally ending!!!
Do not ignore itching.

Wow, thank you for sharing your story and helpful tips on RealSelf. You have been through a lot. That's amazing how things worked out for you. You're right, a mammo won't always show everything. Did you get an ultrasound too by any chance? Will your new breasts be fairly similar in size to your original breasts? Congrads on your final surgery. Hoping your going to like your final results. Take care!
Hi, and thanks:) In answer to your question, I've had breast MRI, Ultra Sound Duct-o-gram, needle guided biopsy's, CT scans , not to mention Radiation. Probably glowing by now!! But no more Mamo's for me:)

Glowing but cancer free! :) As a daughter of a breast cancer surviving mom, I'm hoping I can get something other than a mammogram soon. Thank you again for sharing your valuable experience!
