Absolute Perfection- Rhinoplasty, Septoplasty and Turbinoplasty with Dr Imani - Perth, AU

I am writing this review to help others make the right choice and because I feel like I owe it to this site after everyone on here helped me so much in my decision choosing Dr Imani and I couldn’t be happier. Also could have possibly stopped me from using another surgeon that is less than ideal.
Growing up I always disliked my nose, struggled breathing and had decided from a young age I wanted to do something about it. No one had ever commented on it and there was nothing drastically wrong with it, except that it was clearly deviated from the front view and my profile that drove me crazy.
Once I was finally in the position to do be able to do something about it I researched day and night for a few months. I lived in Perth and I was always convinced from watching lots of makeover shows that I would have to fly somewhere far way to get a decent surgeon.
Let me also say that I am EXTREMELY picky and know exactly what I want after thinking about it for years. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted.
I looked in other states even international! I was very happy that every search I had led me right back to Dr Imani in Perth and I couldn’t wait to have a consult with him. After reading a ton of reviews on here about lots of different doctors and peoples experiences I learnt that a lot of people felt it is best if you see at least two surgeons for consults before making up your mind. However there wasn’t anyone else I was interested in seeing in Perth and after seeing Dr Imani my mind was made up with complete confidence.
Also when choosing your surgeon please do NOT choose an all over plastic surgeon. Dr Imani is a Facial Plastic Surgeon and an ENT.
It says on FRACS that he is and I quote a "Specialist Facial Plastic Surgeon. Areas of expertise include Rhinoplasty, Surgery of the nose- nasal airway and trauma surgery. Areas of practice: AESTHETIC, Children, Rhinology". I wouldn’t trust and take the risk using someone that isn’t a facial plastic surgeon on my face! No way.
I loved that Dr Imani’s office was so beautiful and clean. During the consult I was very straight to the point and brought in about 1000 photos of what I wanted and I definitely took my time explaining everything and making sure Dr Imani and I were on the same page. I definitely don’t like the typical nose job look that a lot of other surgeons do and he made me feel confident he doesn’t do that. I didn’t even take notice of the time and after leaving felt so badly about how long I was in there! That being said Dr Imani was completely patient with me and listened to my every word and looked at every picture I brought in. He confirmed that I have a deviated septum and told me that I have THIN SKIN which I would like to make clear because some people have said on this site he only tells people they have thick skin? I feel like other Doctors would have shoved me out of there and wouldn’t have bothered with me l o l.
He presents himself fantastically, has a great bedside manner and a good sense of humor.
The next step was booking in my surgery. His reception lady Lisa made it very seamless and I also had a quick pre surgery check in with Dr Imani because I wanted to see him again closer to the surgery date to go over everything and make sure we were still on the same page. I left feeling even more excited and couldn’t wait any longer for the day to come.
The hospital I was at was very nice and clean. I went down to the operating theatre and was able to have a quick chat to Dr Imani and give him my book of photos. I had lots of jabs from the anesthetist trying to find my vein to put me under. (I think it was hard to find because I was a bit nervous about going under).
When I woke up from the surgery I felt great! Really great. The first few nurses I had were a wonder and on top of everything. I felt no pain what so ever even hours after surgery. Then a few hours later it went downhill. I’m still unsure about what exactly happened but I think the next nurse was late to give me my pain killers and once I felt the pain I started to panic. WARNING GROSS My nose had a constant flow of blood dripping out and I was vomiting a lot of blood. I filled 2 vomit bags with pure blood. This and the pain made me panic more.
IMPORTANT Let me just point out that this is in no way a reflection of Dr Imani and his work. This is just something unfortunate that happened after due to me apparently being a heavy bleeder. I just wish it was dealt with a bit better by the nurse as I was in pain and in shock from seeing so much blood.
Dr Imani was still in the hospital as I was one of the first surgeries of the day and was finishing his last patient of the night when he was asked by a nurse to come up.
I am extremely thank full to him for taking the time to come up and check on me after having such a long day. He completely reassured me and instructed the nurses to un cover my eyes and stop icing my face as it wasn’t helping. He also gave me some medication and I started to feel better.
He said he almost NEVER comes up to a room afterwards.
When I returned home I stayed elevated the entire time with lots of pillows! A big V shaped pillow and a really comfortable neck (aero plane style) pillow are essential! I also used my neck pillow in hospital. I was so afraid of rolling over, the neck pillow and building a fort around me with lots of other pillows made that impossible. I would also suggest your husband if you have one to sleep on another bed or build a wall of pillows in the middle ha ha! Make sure you have straws to drink with and lots of cotton tips for applying your after care cream. I found having a face mirror next to my bed also helped a lot and I only wore clothing that buttoned up. Since you will be breathing through your mouth for a while paw paw ointment stopped my lips from feeling dry. You can also buy an anti dry mouth spray to keep your mouth moist from the chemist but I never ended up using mine. I continued to suck on a lot of ice (I’m unsure how well this actually works). Think ahead with your meals because you have to have everything cold and no salt!
My nose continued bleeding so I wore the extra bolsters that a nurse gave me in the morning for the next few days otherwise the blood would continue to drip down my face. Other than that recovery was really easy and I had all my meds and I never felt any pain again. Thank goodness just the thought of it made me cringe. Just make sure you get lots of rest.
Getting my cast off I was so nervous! But after looking in the mirror I was SO ESTATIC. He told me I had hardly any swelling and he said it was probably due to the fact I slept up right.
It still had a little way to go but for the first time I finally felt like myself more than ever. He taped my nose that I left on for a few days and within a week surgery was hardly noticeable. I went back for my check up and he said that everything is looking great and he was impressed with the lack of swelling which he said is probably because I was still staying upright. I never used anything for bruising and it was one of the things I was most concerned about. But with Dr Imani you don’t need to worry. He actually told me I had more bruising than most of his patients which shocked me because I thought there was hardly any ha ha so everyone else is really lucky.
My nose has near cleared up and my breathing is amazing. I can fall asleep straight away and exercise is so much easier being able to breathe properly.
My nose is absolutely perfect. I still look exactly like myself just without the bump. I cannot get over how spot on he was and in tune with what I wanted. He completely understood. I have so much confidence and feel so much prettier and feminine and I owe it all to Dr Imani. I am so glad I didn’t let the fear stop me from doing it and it was worth every cent. Before the surgery he told me my other family members wouldn’t notice and he was right they haven’t! My mother has since booked with him to have some work done and is coming back for more!
I can honestly say that even if I was living interstate I would 100% fly over for Dr Imani.
If I ever would like anything done in the future I won’t think twice about choosing Dr Imani. I completely trust him with my face. I am also saving up to buy his skin care line and can’t wait to start using it.
