Hey everyone, after stalking RS for over a year I decided I’d put up a post about my experience. I had a full abdominalplasty with tightening, and a verticals incision as my surgeon said I did not have enough skin to pull completely down for a full tt and I had loose skin above the navel.
Recovery has actually been much easier gab I anticipated. And every day gets better and better. I’m on day 3 at the moment, feeling great, I can walk almost upright (although I still try to bend just to avoid any tension on my incisions) I don’t have significant pain. More like a burning type of pain near the incisions. The abdomen is very sore like I’ve done a million crunches. I can’t laugh or sneeze or cough. I’d say that’s the worst part so far.
Last night we had friends over and played a board game. They made me laugh the whole night and it’s was absolutely excruciating to the point I couldn’t contain my laughter and felt a constant strain and ripping in my abs. I ended up having to go into another room to relieve myself from the “giggles” and so they went home ASAP ???? thats neen the hardest thing for me so far, is the pain from laughing or accidentally tending your abs.
I’m still quite swollen and my incisions look quite horrific. I still feel like I have my old belly even though it is significantly tighter I feel like Iran going to go back to the same as it was. It’s probably all in my head ????
I’m wearing my compression garment 24/7.
I’d like to hear anyone else’s experiences? How long did it take for you to heal and are you happy with your results?

Please excuse my spelling mistakes. The pain meds really make me quite frazzled. Will put some pics up as I progress

I was quite pleased to read your post as it sounds very similar to mine. I also was expecting a painful recovery and was pleasantly surprised! I am 14 days po and have only just stopped wearing my compression garment at night. Still all day though. I was able to shower by myself from day 2 and nearly walk upright although, like you, I don't like to push it. I even managed to have sex day 4!

The main pain is when I sneeze or cough. About day 3 I sneezed and felt a sharp pain below my belly button, and it still hurts there now on occasion but I can now tense my upper abs without much pain at all.

I'm still quite swollen, especially at the end of the day, so I'm trying to be patient as I know it is not the final result yet. I can't fit many of my clothes around the waist so that's a pain, and trying not to over do it as I feel so well that is easy to go hard in the first half of the day, but then pay for it at night! I go back to work tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how that goes. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery.

So today is 5 days post op. It’s been a great day so far as I finally had a BM (tmi sorry). It will be interesting to see how my scars heal up. I’m a little nervous as I haven’t seen many patients with this type of incision. I’m still very swallen and haven’t given my incisions a wash properly yet. So it looks quite bloody and I still have lots of markings on me from pre op. I’m walking heaps better today. Like 95% straight which is amazing. But still very slowly.
Parts of me can still see my old wrinkley belly button. I can’t wait to start seeing more of a regular
Parts of me can still
