Growing up my nose didn't bother me, but a few...

Growing up my nose didn't bother me, but a few years ago I started noticing that I had a hump, especially in photos and I really started to hate it. It was my profile that really bothered me, but I dreaded any photos because I would have to pose just right to make it look okay from the front as well. I had my dad's nose with a large dorsal hump and a droopy tip. What I wanted was a more feminine straight nose, even with a slight scoop.
Although my mum told me she thought I was beautiful the way I was, she was supportive when I started looking into plastic surgery.
I found doctor Imani online. He was mentioned in a number of discussions on plastic surgeons in Perth and had great reviews on real self. I set an appointment with him and it was clear he knew what he was talking about. The only thing that worried me was the price, but I eventually decided if I was going to go through with the surgery I would rather pay more and love my nose, than pay less with someone I was less confident in. And I'm so glad I went with him!
The surgery went really well. I was extremely nervous before, but all the staff at the hospital were really nice and my anaesthetist Fiona Ibach was amazing. I woke up from the surgery and felt fine, I was actually really hungry. I stayed in the hospital overnight and went home the next day. I didn't have any pain, but I will say having a cast on your face isn't exactly comfortable. The worst things about recovery for me, were sleeping on my back in an upright position and not being able to wash my hair.
When the cast came off I was shocked, by nose looked so different, but I was insanely happy! My nose did swell up a lot. I was really swollen for quite a long time, but I didn't notice it too much until the swelling went down and I could see the difference. To be honest I would have been happy with the swelling, I just love not having to worry about people looking at me from the side.
I will post photos so you can see the changes as the swelling goes down :)
My breathing is better than before, as Dr Imani shaved down my turbinates. My nose is no longer numb and my smile returned to normal after about 6 weeks, but it does swell up randomly some days.
I am so happy I went through with the surgery and I am much more confident now than I was before. I used to hate taking photos, would literally dive away from cameras, but now I may take too many photos! I highly recommend Dr Imani, he is an artist who changed my life and I will be forever grateful to him.
