I’ve always disliked my nose to the point where I angle myself so that I’m on a particular side if I’m trying to feel more attractive to someone. The practice of doing this has become so inherent to me that I’ll probably keep doing this unnecessarily for some time!
Provider Review
The cost quite above is the total cost of the two procedures - incl: Dr Pham’s fee - $8825 / Anaesthetist’s fee - $2400 / Hospital fee - $1725 (Gap fee for hospital overnight stay was $500 with my very basic hospital health insurance cover and the addition portion was for the lipo, which was not covered at all). I had rhinoplasty, with correction of a deviated septum, and skin graft to assist with the rhinoplasty, as well as underchin liposuction. I work in hospital care in Perth and have a lot to do with surgeons who practice both in public hospitals and private rooms. I also have a lot of close friends who are surgeons. I felt it was utterly LUDICROUS to even consider a surgeon who is not an ENT surgeon AND a plastic surgeon (NOT cosmetic), so I went with Dr Pham. I have also had a number of friends complete their plastic surgery prac with him and spoke very highly of him and quite poorly of some other surgeons who carry out rhinoplasty in Perth (you wouldn’t believe the stuff I hear!). They told me exactly what he is like and what he does during nasal surgeries both as a plastic surgeon and as an ENT surgeon. I got along with him instantly, but he has quite a macabre sense of humour, which I instantly felt comfortable with as that’s part and parcel of working in Health. I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. To be completely honest, I don’t care whatsoever about a surgeon’s bedside manner, as long as I have full and complete evidence of their surgical skill, so my “feeling good” or not about Dr Pham would not have come into play at all when it came to something that requires so much precision in surgery. At work I’ve noticed that the better a surgeon is, conversely the worse his or her bedside manner, so I’m quite okay with a poor bedside manner as long as I’m sure I’ve been understood as to what I’d like to achieve. I really feel that the bedside manner is exceptionally overrated when it comes to plastic and cosmetic surgery reviews and we need an avenue via which people can assess and compare surgical skill in much more depth. I had the operation last week (19/10/17) and, although I don’t expect the final outcome for 6 months to a year (a recovery time which should be emphasised by all surgeons to reduce the expectation of a quick fix - it is NOT), I cannot honestly believe how fantastic my nose looks already. I did not expect much difference for at least 3 months and am absolutely amazed that my profile looks so good! The double chin lipo has also already made a monumental difference, in addition to the nose, although it is still somewhat swollen, and lipo also takes 6 months to a year to show final results. I am truly truly gobsmacked that both procedures have already made such a huge difference to my face after just over ONE WEEK! In hospital, the packing in my nose was taken out the morning after the procedure. (I went home after that). A fair bit of blood came out, which is normal. I only really did “mouth breathing for about 3-4 days, unlike some of the reviews I’ve read. I also understand that leaving packing in the nose for a longer length time than I had is totally unnecessary. I am now breathing almost normally. There is still some slight restriction, but this is reducing as big clots are coming out with the nose douching I’m still doing. My nose is still numb on the top but the numbness seems to be disappearing each day, although Dr Pham said this could persist for 3 months or so. It doesn’t appear as though it will persist for that length of time. I had my follow up appointment yesterday, during which my nose “cast” was supposed to be removed but it had already fallen off the night before - probably because I’d got some water under it when I was showering. I am so so exceptionally pleased with both the extremely early result and the quick recovery time. I have another appointment in 6 weeks time, after which I will post before and after shots. I may also put some up sooner, as I’d love to show people what can be achieved after just one week post op with Dr Pham’s skill.
