A Warning About Permanent Cosmetics

Spitfire
Hello. I hesitated to write this review, because I did get a refund. But after months of dealing with horrible permanent eyebrow tattoos, I felt I had to write about my experience.

I booked a permanent makeup appointment with a woman associated with a plastic surgeon whom I have patronized in the past and whose work I'm very happy with. I trusted her because of that association. During the procedure, I was initially impressed: she took her time, seemed to look at her work carefully, and the room she worked in was comfortable and well-appointed. Also, the procedure wasn't very painful, a new experience to me (I've had this procedure before).

But when I looked in the mirror after she was done, I was appalled. The right eyebrow looked fine, but the left was awful - it actually had a weird curve in the upper brow she couldn't even see (after I made her fix it, it was better). But the brows were still different from each other. The right one was longer and higher than the other (something else she apparently couldn't see). She tried to fix the mess two times after that - each time, I tried to be optimistic, even saying I was "happy" with them, but after they healed...horrible. I still have wonky eyebrows that do not match. She seemed to realize that she'd messed up, because she started lecturing me about not expecting "symmetry". And I thought, "For $750 bucks, I BETTER get symmetry!" But she was incapable of that. After the third visit, I refused to let her try to fix them again, fearing they'd get worse.

SO - I am left with not only asymmetrical, wonky eyebrows, but one has faded faster then the other, and now, every damn day, I have to struggle with them. I am unfortunate enough to have very little eyebrow hair, and I was hoping that permanent cosmetics would help. Instead, it's made them worse. In the first place, I wanted microblading because that procedure (when done correctly by somebody competent) makes your brows look like they have actual hair (via hairstrokes). But the woman who performed my procedure made the brows so thin you can't even see the hairstrokes! They look like skinny bent sticks. Clearly, she could not do microblading. In addition, she ignored what I wanted - I did NOT want skinny high-arched Cruella deVil brows, but she did them like that anyway. I was horrified by the results. I still am!

Now, every day, when I put on makeup, instead of dealing with what ISN'T there (eyebrow hair), I have to deal with what IS (horrible-looking permanent makeup). It takes up so much time, and thanks to that woman's incompetence, I never can get them quite right. What a disaster!

Again, to the plastic surgeon's credit, I DID get a refund without a fuss. But it really doesn't help me with what that woman did - she disfigured me, basically. This woman worked for Dr. Nyack - a wonderful surgeon whom I have NO complaints about. The work he did on me is several years old and still looks great. I'd use him again in a heartbeat. But his permanent cosmetician is terrible. Heed my warning. Do NOT book an appointment with her if you want permanent eyebrow makeup!

Not to lesson your horrible experience, but I was always told that eyebrows should be sisters, not twins

So sorry about your experience. Reasons like this are why I’m terrified to have my brows done. Would you post before and afters? More importantly, where did this take place and who was the technician? Knowing where to stay away is as important as where to go! Thank you
