I had an OBGYN do these repairs after she examined me to find my anal sphincter was separated causing me to have very little perineal area. I am 3 weeks post op and still have a ways to go but I wanted to show my before and after. It took an hour and 45 minutes of surgery. This was not a minimally invasive surgery in my case. I had a rectocele repair in 2018 and it didn't address all of my issues. I am hopeful everything is fixed now. It did hurt very bad for about 1.5 weeks. Did your sphincteroplasty remove the excess tissue around the anus? I'm assuming you tore as I did. My Dr is saying I don't need a sphincteroplasty but I think my issue is very similar to yours. He wants to do a rectocele and perineoplasty. What did your OB say in terms of needung the sphincteroplasty? Were you having a lot of symptoms?
