9 months post

my nose has improved a lot in the last few months and I'm slowly starting to live my life again after a harrowing year where I hid from my friends, relapsed on drink(I'm a recovering alcoholic), went on medication for anxiety for a few months and was extremely depressed and at times suicidal. This could have been avoided with the correct pre-op info.

last post - it's still changing

i suppose on reflection the result is still changing, so I'm not going to post anymore. i think this thread illustrates the emotional turmoil you can go through during rhinoplasty recovery. perhaps a decent result is still possible from my surgery. I just wish i'd been given a proper evaluation beforehand so i could have made a more informed decision.

Less swelling - nose is smaller but still very crooked

my nose is starting to look a little smaller with the swelling gone down but still very crooked , much more crooked than before the op. I sent my photos to Dr. Padera through Praga Medica, who thinks it must be due to cartilage memory in which case i'm stuck with this horrible new nose and feel like my life is over. He didn't offer any apology or anything , just said that a further operation wouldn't help.

May end up with a good result as it's still improving and returning to what it was when I removed the cast but I've been through the worst year of my life and if it hadn't been for my family I wouldn't have come through it. Dr. Padera was a guarantor on Praga Medica's website and should have been ensuring that patients were getting the correct information. Secondary rhinoplasty is not standard rhinoplasty and should never be described as such. Praga Medica told me it was standard rhinoplasty but as I had previous surgery and a broken nose before this operation it was not standard. My nose at 4 months post-op was huge and looked extremely crooked. It's gradually improved since then. There's still a sizeable bump but much smaller than it was. Hopefully it will continue to improve and I'll end up with a great result but Padera has a duty of care to ensure his patients are receiving the correct info about the recovery and risks involved in surgery. I was only told after the op that because of my previous op and broken nose, the recovery could take much longer. I feel Dr Padera is an excellent surgeon but that Praga Medica's pre-op info was misleading.
