I had my surgery just about 3 weeks ago. I cannot...

I had my surgery just about 3 weeks ago. I cannot express how thankful I am to be free of glasses. I was terrified to do the surgery because anything coming remotely close to my eye really freaks me out. I had serious anxiety the day of and the days coming up to surgery because of the things they use to pry your eyes open. I have never been able to do contacts because I cant even touch my own eye....that's how freaked out I am. On the day of surgery I told my doctor how freaked out I was......he assured me that it is not as scary and it is not as bad as I had myself worked up. They gave me a valume and I started to calm down. When they took ne in the room, I laid down and they put me under the first machine to cut my flaps. The only thing that bothered me here was that my eyes are very little and the things that hold your lids open pushed hard on my eye bones.....it hurt pretty good, but not unbearable pain. then they put the suction on my eye.......I was apprehensive only because they told me they were going to touch my eye....I was feeling good because of the valume, so I honestly didn't fully see what was going on, because of the bright lights I had to look into. So when they pressed the suction on my eye, it hurt my eye bones again because of the pressure from the things already in place to keep my lids open, but not unbearable. this went very quick....maybe 3 minutes per eye...maybe. after that was done they moved me to the last machine. the dr said that the first machine was the worst part of it all, and he was telling the truth. the next thing they did was one eye at a time again, put the lid opener things on........not as wide as the first machine, so it didn't hurt as bad.......this is when they did the actual laser correction.....literally 6 seconds per eye............It all went soooo fast, thank god! I heard the laser, I smelled slight burning.....Never once did my eyeball feel a thing.....just the sockets around my eye from the eye opener. after the laser correction was done, they placed my corneal flaps back in place and puts drops in, used a sponge to flatten the cornea......I was feeling so relaxed from the valume that none of that eyeball touching really bothered me a whole lot.....I was so excited to finally be glasses free after 25 years that 20 minutes of eyeball touching was TOTALLY worth every second!!!!! I could not be any happier with my decision to do the surgery.
I would recommend lasik to everyone!
The worst part of everything was the ride home. I live an hour away from the clinic. I was not informed to get all of my meds before surgery. I was not told to bring ibuprofen. Had I been told to do all of that, my ride home would not have been so bad. After having to go to walmart and wait for my husband to get my prescriptions(20 minutes) my eyes started to get dry....very very dry about 30 minutes into our ride home. It felt like someone was rubbing sand paper on my eyes. It was VERY painful. I had a headache...........I actually remember crying because I was so uncomfortable, and I couldn't open my eyes because they told me not to and it hurt when I did. All of this could have been avoided, had they told me to take ibuprofen and get my meds before surgery. So, with that said, I would still do it again if I had to, but I would take the steps above. lol.
when I finally got home, I took the ambien the dr. gave me and slept for 6 hours. When I woke up, I was completely pain free......And I COULD SEE!!!!!!!!!!
LASIK changed my life for the better! Thank god for this possibility!
