Since I was 18 I was very uncomfortable with the small size of my breasts. They didn't suit my body type and I was very self-conscious. I decided that I would wait 5 years so I had time to think and mature slightly, and then reassess if this was still how I felt and something I wanted. 5 years went by and nothing changed.
It took me a year of researching other people's reviews before I decided to go and see Dr Tim Papadopoulos at the Lane cove office. I was very nervous for the initial consultation, not sure what to expect. All of the people who work at both the Lane cove and Penrith clinics are very helpful, friendly and full of great information. When I walked into Dr Tim's office I was very unsure and nervous, Dr Tim had a very welcoming personality, his relaxed persona immediately gives you a sense of comfort. Before we even began talking about the consultation he asked me my opinion of the artwork on his wall, the artwork was amazing and it suits his personality perfectly. He told me the story of how he acquired and what it symbolised, it was this casual conversation we had that immediately put me at ease. The initial consultation went smoothly and he asked what I wanted and showed me what options were available and the products that he uses. Measurements were taken to determine what size implants would be proportionate to my body type. I was then able to try on different size implants inside a support bra to give me an idea of what different sizes would approximately look like. I was given a folder with all the information needed in relation to my surgery, the products that would be used, and what to expect before and after the surgery including recovery and restrictions.
Before the end of the consultation Dr Tim asked if I would like to try the 'Vectra 3D imaging' machine available at the Penrith clinic. I highly recommend any person wishing to have breast augmentation use this machine. It is amazing how it takes 10 seconds to take the scan and then you can select, with the help of the fantastic staff, different size implants that will give you a 3D imaging of what you would look like from all angles. It also enables you to compare before and after to show the difference in size.
I knew after seeing those images that I was 100% sure that I was ready to go ahead with the surgery and I even knew exactly what size I wanted.
In the second consultation we just confirmed that I was ready and though I was assured that I could take longer to think about it and ask more questions, I had already made my mind up that I was happy. Dr Tim confirmed that the implants that I had selected would be proportionate for my body type and produce the result that I initially was requesting. I booked in the surgery that day for December 2013, when I was able to have time of work.
There was not a single question that I had that they were not able to answer and most of the time they had given me the information before I asked.
On the day of the surgery I was very nervous but was very fortunate to be one of the first surgery's of the day. When I went into the anaesthetic bay I was greeted by Dr Tim's happy face to mark up before the operation. Before I knew it I was under and I woke up in recovery. I chose to have the surgery at Westmead Private Hospital, and the nursing staff were very nice. Due to the compression bandaging I was stiff in my torso movements though I didn't have any pain. I was discharged a couple of hours later. I continued to take the regular pain relief required and found that I didn't need to take anything more than that throughout the recovery. I went back the next day to have my compression bandaged removed and have the comfort bra fitted. All of which was included in the quoted price.
There was no pain when sitting or lying still. When sleeping I was propped up on 3 pillows with one on the side to provide support. It wasn't until 2 weeks later that I was able to start lying on my side. I found it was very difficult to push my self up from lying to sitting and sitting to standing and sometimes was very painful, though once it was done the pain was gone.
There were regular follow up consultations post surgery to check progress at 1 week, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months and 6 months. At this stage I have booked in for the 9 month review. At these appointments they checked check wound progress and dressings, swelling, areas of numbness on bottom section of both breasts that was noted but expected due to the stretching of the nerves. By 1 month I was no longer taking pain relief. Throughout these stages I continually saw improvement and was very happy with the progress. Currently I only have a small patch of numbness on the lower left breast, which continues to have slow improvement. I did all of my follow up appointments at the Penrith clinic, in my experience I found that all of the staff were fantastic, always cheerful, full of information and willing to help. Dr Tim was always very professional and provided a comfortable environment to be in. He answered any questions and addressed concerns immediately.
I highly recommend Dr Tim and his Team at Cosmetic Culture to anyone considering having a breast augmentation or other cosmetic sugary or procedures.
