48 Yr Old Fixing Underbite with the Help of Invisalign Plus Acceledent. - Pennsylvania, PA
ORIGINAL POST
Started my Invisalign journey in February this...
WORTH IT$6,800
Started my Invisalign journey in February this year and my primary goal is to fix my underbite. I have been prescribed a total of 47 trays plus Acceledent and the treatment period is +/- 12 months.
With the help of Acceledent I change trays every week. So far no pain or any major issues, only some minor discomfort while switching a new set of trays and then the feeling quickly went away the next day.
I'm already onto my 22 set of trays while writing this. Below are some of my progress pics....so far so good and 15 more sets to go!!

Congratulations! Your progress is already amazing!! Can you tell us a bit about how the underbite is actually getting fixed? Is it a combination of arch work and elastics? Are there other things going on? And is the underbite skeletal? We had someone else recently go through jaw surgery, so I was wondering what makes some cases appropriate for fixing with Invisalign. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm excited about my progress too and can't wait to see the end results in 6 months time!
To answer your questions..
How the underbite is actually getting fixed?
=> Invisalign braces all the way, no tooth extraction required since there were already existing gaps and spacing (missing lower molar) between some of my teeth - my ortho said having these existing gaps are an advantage in my case - he's actually making use of them to move my teeth around.
Is it a combination of arch work and elastics?
=> No arch work, just class III elastic bands (rabbit). Started wearing them from tray 10 onwards.
Are there other things going on?
=> Hmmm.... Not sure if it's just me but I could almost swear using the sonic toothbrush help in speeding up the process - it vibrates while brushing so it basically works just like the Acceledent. I brush my teeth 3-4 times, sometimes up to 5 times a day by the way so I'm thinking it might have help in loosening my teeth up even further. This could jolly well be the reason why I have never encounter any pain while switching trays every time!

You know, I had that same exact feeling every time I was using my Oral-B electric toothbrush! No idea if it helped, but it seemed like it could have :). And now that I'm just in retainers, I wonder whether it makes my teeth move during the day while I'm not wearing them! But it's not much, certainly, and I don't brush as much as I did while in the actual aligners.
Thank you for answering all my questions! That makes perfect sense, about there already being extra space there, so you don't need extractions. Now I'm even more excited to watch the process! Gonna go up and read your update now :)

Haha..I have exactly the same thoughts too! I worried it might vibrate n loosen all my teeth too much. So these days I switch to using the sonic brush twice a day n in between with a regular brush.

Did you use acceledent on both jaws 20 min on the upper? And 20 min on bottom? Because of my underbite my bite does not line up. How did you use acceledent? Thx!
