OK so, I've been doing research on the procedure,...

OK so, I've been doing research on the procedure, not only that some doctors prefer you to go to a bariatric seminar as well (optional). So I found out that my insurance do cover it, I went to my primary care doctor to get a referral to memorial west hospital to meet with doctor Emil MateI today (8/28/17) I finally find the hospital went in (it took FOREVER) to see him, so I told him I was interested in the Lapband procedure I want something LESS INVASIVE, and reversible the lesser of the 2 evils basically! Then he tells me" the lapband is not good, it slips sometimes, you have to get refills and basically he have not perform the procedure in 3 years etc, he think the sleeve is better! It's a big procedure but it's better. Let's get my assistant in with thepaperwork and start the process". So imagine my shock I was scared and upset, discouraged depressed you name it. I told the lady at the front desk I have to get something out the car and I ended up leaving.
My first problem is why everytime I go see a doctor they try to discourage me into not getting something I want or give me a hard time about something they don't want to do? I went through hell just to get a referral btw.
Secondly, the lapband was something I had to really consider, I feel it's the less invasive one though all is surgical but I rather the band it's reversible and I'm not cutting half of my stomach off (sleeve) or connecting an intestine somewhere else (bypass) . Sh#t ! I don't want to cut up my stomach is haven't had kids yet or even figured out other things that might be a problem.
It was scary I felt like the doctor was trying to talk me into something I didn't want and I'm very disappointed in doctors nowadays. So now I have to not give up! Because I most definitely felt like it, and I just have to find another doctor who WILL do the lapband procedure. So now I'm looking if anyone know any doctors in the south Florida community ( Boca to Miami) who accepts insurance in bariatric procedures please let me know. The search begins....wish me luck!
