The reason I chose to have a tummy tuck done was due to my "apron" left over from my pregnancies. The procedure went extremely well, the incision goes from hip to hip so it most definately hurt but with pain meds-it was not unbearable & is so well worth it.. The most uncomfortable feeling was actually from the tightening of the muscles in the upper abdomen area. I most definately recommend at least 6 weeks to recover and lots of help from family/friends. The binder gives so much relief for your tummy muscles so you need to wear it and it fits under clothes easily. You will be wearing loose comfortable clothing for a while..
It is now 4 months post op and I am feeling great. Down from size 18 pants to 12 just from having the "apron" removed. My self confidence has grown and I will now go swimming in swimmers not boardies & t-shirt. I can now wear dresses without looking 6mnths pregnant & will even go the gym now & not feel self conscious anymore. I dont know why I waited 12 years.

Hi thankyou :-) i will definately keep posting as he said it can be a good 12 mnths till you see the final result. My hubby said the same I thought the tightness and rippin feeling would not go away either but trust me it does. It takes time. I actually bought a 2 piece for the first time since I was a teenager. Yay :-).

Thank you so much for mentioning the upper ab swelling, that gave me some hope :) That issue has been my main reason for worrying for the past 4 weeks (I'm 6 weeks PO now).

Hi. Oh how I worried about the swelling also. I was shocked when I first noticed it. It still swells at times usually after a day on my feet at work. But now I know it will settle and it does. Good luck and enjoy your new bod :-)

Thank you for your post! I am 2 weeks today and waited 17 years to get it done. I was petite size 3 before the operation but because I had three kids, I was left with hanging skin and more than 2 cm+ gap between my abdominal muscles. So although I was small I always looked like I was 4 month pregnant. I have been experiencing that similar pain you talked about in my upper abdominal wall over my belly botton especially on the right hand side. It feels like my muscle is pulled. Its painful, preventing me from walking probably at times. :(
I still feel alot of pulling and tightness, my swelling has gone down abit and the doctor said it wasn't bad and that I was lucky since I didn't bruise at all either.
I get ups and down and this website has helped me through them.
Thank you for sharing your story ...like the others I now see a light at the end of the tunnel!

I totally understand. The pulling feeling tends to pull you forward when walking. It will get better. I used to think "oh my goodness" what if I cant walk straight again but....I can and I am. Keep using this website it helps most definately :-) there is light at end of the tunnel.
