Hello all, my name is Corina I am 28 years old and overweight. I've been overweight all my life, until 4 years ago I realized that I needed to take control of my life. I was only 19 years old when I got diagnosed with Diabetes type 2. At first I paid no attention. I ate everything I was suppose to stay away from, until one day eventually it took its toll on my body. I was always tired and never wanted to do physical work. My health got worst. I got UTI and numerous of yeast infections. My body was given me all sorts of signs, and I am glad I listened. At age 21 I made a life changing decision. I started to see a Dr so that I could start to control my diabetes. He helped me learn how to eat better and with that I also started to exercise. I started by taking walks around my block, then at the park. Soon I was seeing that being healthy was not so bad. Everything was going well, but then I met someone. He became everything to me and sure enought I fell into that "I love you just the way you are" crap. I let myself go bad! I did not realize how bad until things ended up badly between us. I fell into a bad depression and food was my comfort. It was not until I hit 24 when again I seeked for help. This time it was something I knew I had to do. I worked my butt off at the gym and also learning how to eat healthy. I lost over 150 pounds over a period of 4 years. It was not easy, there were times that I would gived up. Sure, it was easier being fat than getting healthy! Now at 28 years old I made the decision to get the gastric sleeve done. When I first went into Dr. Saad's office I weight in at 249. He sent me with a nutritionist and lost 7 more pounds within that 1 month. Thankfully, my insurance did not take a long time to approve my surgery. Within 3 months I was ready and feeling so motivated for a big change. I started on my pre-op liquid diet and believe me, it was so hard! The first day I gave up! I drove myself to a famous place where they sell mexican food and ate a torta (mexican sandwich). After I ate it I felt so bad! I re-started the second day and thanks to my mom's homemade broths, I was able to manage it better! By the end of week 2 of my liquid diet, my body was tired and weak. Thank God my surgeon moved my surgery date and so on April 6th I got sleeved! First night out of surgery was scary. My blood pressure went down and had to be moved to ICU to be better monitored. I stayed in the hospital 3 days. Thank God everything got undercontrolled and I was discharged on Friday, April 8th. First and second day home I slept. It was so hard to get up and walk much less drink anything. I hated the feeling of the pain I felt when I would sip in any liquid. Slowly but surely I got up and started to walk again. By Tuesday I was already packing my bags to get back into my apartment. Things got easier for me and within a week in a half after surgery I went back to work. Now almost 3 weeks post-op I weight in 226 pounds. Never felt better and I am really excited for what the future has in stored for me. I've worked hard for this, and I know this surgery isn't the end, I have so many goals and dreams and I am not stopping until they come true.

2 Months Post-Op
It sure has not been easy, but I am loving the results that I am having. I have so much more energy and loving how my clothes is starting to either fit too big or looking way better then before. I have lost a total of 28 pounds since surgery. I have taken it slowly, mainly because I don't want all that loose skin on me. I have been going to the gym and working out at least 3-4 times a week. Meal prep is a must, I'd be lost without my meals. Counting calories and making sure I get enough protein has been a big part of my meal planning. Thank god for MyFitnessPal!!
